Childfree tranquillity is yours with a choice of two romantic, recently renovated cottages in the gardens of an historic, hillside farmhouse, overlooking Etruscan Arezzo. Perfect for honeymoons, birthdays and anniversaries. The 2 acre mature garden is bursting with more than a dozen types of fruit trees, olives, rare conifers and numerous antiquities, including a 2000 year old Roman cistern! The house, built around a watchtower which dates back some 1000 years, is surrounded by the green waves of the Tuscan hills yet only 10 minutes from Arezzo's centre, the Piazza Grande. La Torre, set on the slopes of Monte Lignano and on the boundary of the State park, is approached via a country lane passing through vineyards and olive groves to 480 metres.
Arezzo, the setting for the Oscar-winning film Life is Beautiful, is well placed for visiting both Tuscany and Umbria. Just half an hour or so by train to Florence or an hour and a quarter to Rome, with no stress about driving or parking. Arezzo has a busy cosmopolitan atmosphere of laid back chic. Browse in one of the many antique shops, try one of the many shoe shops or designer outlets - from Gucci to Prada, or even find a little something from one of the goldsmiths that Arezzo is famed for.
During your stay, you can enjoy the 10 x 5 m pool, with a natural, Sienese stone surround, that nestles in the olive grove and has panoramic views towards Arezzo and the Pratomagno mountains beyond.

"We were so relaxed and had so much fun making the pasta we didn't even realise we were learning. The results- delicious and I know I can do them when I get back home. Liz & Tim, USA. September 2007"
"The highlight of our holiday here at La Torre - educational, relaxed and supportive. We learnt so many new dishes and hints about cooking in general." Ian & Shirley, UK. September 2008
"Anyone who has not beat, chopped, cut, diced, minced, rolled, seared and stewed in Sandra's tower has not had a full visit to La Torre, the cooking course was fantastic - really good fun and we learnt lots too!" Barbara & James, USA, April 2009
"We had such a good time with the cooking course, it was relaxed but we learnt lots too! It got our holiday off to a perfect start and we learnt what was in season and how to cook many new foods. However, the best was eating the results - anitpasti, main courses, pasta, etc.!! We would recommend this to anyone interested in food, whether an experienced cook or a complete beginner." Lisa & Tim, USA, June 2010
"We LOVED the cooking course, what a fantastic day, we can't wait to go home and try out all the new recipes - we'll have an Italian evening for our friends. Thank you for making it so memorable and hopefully we'll be back for our anniversay :-)! Lisa and Aziz, July 2011”
"We highly recommended the cooking class where Sandra taught us how to prepare true Tuscan meals. After more than 4 hours of dicing and stirring, and kneading, rolling, cutting and hanging the pasta the limoncello was a welcome reward! The meals we enjoyed over the next few days were delicious!" Dave & Mary, Canada, May 2012
"Sandra’s fantastic cooking course added a further dimension to our holiday; she is a fab cook, communicator and fun to be with. The food we cooked lasted us for days. We enjoyed ourselves so much and have many fine memories to take home, they will last a lifetime." Lesley & Trevor, UK, September 2013
We are soooo happy that we went ahead with our cooking course with Sandra, we learnt so much and the food was absolutely the best we had during our visit here. We were excited to rush home to eat! I am celiac and Sandra did a great job finding amazing recipes that we will cherish forever. Gnocchi, risotto, sauces for my special pasta, fritters and much more. Thank you so much Sandra, we will let you know how the recipes turn out at home. Pam & Steve, September 2014
Arezzo has its own 'palio' or medieval re-enactment, the Giostra del Saracino and this is held twice a year in the Piazza Grande. Firstly on Saturday 18th June 2016 and then on Sunday 4th September 2016, both events take place in the evening. However, there are also full-scale rehearsals for both events two days before, namely Thursday 16th June and Friday 2nd September, if you cannot make the actual date.
Every first Sunday of the month, without fail, and the Saturday preceding it there is a huge antiques fair in Arezzo's centro storico. Hundreds of stalls line the old streets and everything from Medici fireplaces to lace napkins can be found.
Twice a year there is also a fair dedicated to antiquarian photographic and other optical equipment. The fair generally takes place on the last weekend in both April and September.
Visit the Arezzo Tourism website for details.
From La Torre it is an easy drive to Siena, where the world famous palio is held twice a year, in July and August.
Also a short drive away is Cortona, where the internationally renowned Under the Tuscan Sun Festival is held every August.
"We have never travelled to Italy before but we certainly will again. The warmth of your welcome, your enthusiasm for all things Italian, your guidance and many kindnesses have made our holiday a "five +" star rated experience."
"Hospitality as warm as the Tuscan Sun! So Perfect as a Honeymooners' Haven."
"Finally we stumbled across a place that delivered everything it promised and more. La Torre was everything we could have asked for; quiet and serene, comfortable and homely. In a spectacular location yet located within easy distance of the best Tuscany and Umbria have to offer.
Thank you for making our first stay in Tuscany so memorable."
