Il Bacio - La Veduta

Il Bacio

“Your warmth and kindness have added so much to our trip, we felt so much at home here. And, we will miss Vaz terribly, please give him lots of belly scratches from us! Your cooking class was one of our absolute favourite experiences of our trip! We are excited to return home and try all the new recipes you provided. Il Bacio was perfect, so wonderfully appointed and blissfully quiet, except for the owls but we loved that! Such a beautiful place, thank you so much for sharing it with us. Warmly..”

Lee & Leigh, Minneapolis. USA, October 2015

“From Keith & Bernadette, ‘The Explorers’. What a lovely experience! The property was beautiful and il Bacio was the perfect, romantic getaway for our honeymoon. Sandra and Paul were so kind, warm and welcoming. The cooking course was superb. We are so glad my sister recommended we stay here. Thank you Sandra & Paul for sharing your home, your story and your time with us. Ciao..”

Bernadette & Keith, Nevada, USA, September 2015

“Dear Sandra & Paul. We have had a lovely week in our gorgeous il Bacio. It is so peaceful and suited us. We have managed to visit so many new places and have enjoyed each one. Thank you for the welcome and all the little ‘extras’ to make us feel at home. You have thought of everything. Eating out, we particularly enjoyed the trattoria il Saraceno in Via Mazzini and the Centro trattoria in Via Cavour in Arezzo. We will certainly be recommending La Torre to anyone thinking of visiting Tuscany. Thanks for everything”

Kenny & Rosalyn. Aberdeen, Scotland, August 2015

“Dear Sandra & Paul. Thank you so much for a wonderful few days spent in il Bacio. We have really enjoyed making the most of the perfectly-equipped kitchen and tucking into dinners by candle light. Arezzo, we found to be a vibrant and beautiful city and it was not long before the place became really familiar. We tore ourselves away from the pool for one day to explore Florence. A friend’s recommendation helped us find a super spot for lunch very near to the Ponte Vecchio: ‘Buca dell’Orafo’. No English menu/photos of meals or fancy decoration - but the best steak we have even eaten. We’ll be back in England by the end of the day, but the two of us will be returning wonderfully refreshed and relaxed. Once again, thank you so much to our wonderful hosts, Nothing is too much and all guests staying here are truly, truly lucky.”

Sophie & Nick, Hampshire, UK. July 2015

“Oh what a lovely time we’ve had here – il Bacio is perfect and a week was far too short. We’re not so much unwound as unraveled! This of course means that we haven’t done anything like as much exploring and culture vulturing as we meant to, but just enough to realize the enormous amount there is to see and do in the area. We’ll have to come back, that’s all there is to it! Thank you both – and Vaz of course – for making us feel so welcome. Very best wishes..”

Frances & Richard, Cambridge, UK. June 2015

“Sandra, Paul Vaz, Thank you for your warm welcome! Our stay was delightful and full of history, food and lots of shopping. Il Bacio was perfect and we loved cooking dinner each evening. You are wonderful hosts and we wish you years of happiness and success.”

Ginny & Ted, Newtown, PA, USA. May 2015

“Such planning and sweet expectations for our 20th anniversary trip to Italy! We arrive to find a slice of Tuscan paradise! La Torre, il Bacio, the views … the perfect place to return to from our daily trips and adventures. We loved it all … Arezzo, Florence, San Gimignano, Siena, Assisi. We packed in as much as we could and always with the great comfort to return to il Bacio. We loved the cooking class and shall be making some homemade pasta and pesto for our friends and family back home. Thank you for your warm hospitality and for sharing your beautiful Tuscan dream. It is the memories of this place that are the greatest anniversary gift.

Ben & Claire, Michigan, USA. April 2015

The end of an excellent two weeks exploring Tuscany for our lovely vantage point above Arezzo. The path up to the top of Mt. Lignano is well worth the effort for the sylvan surroundings and the superb panoramic views. ‘La Torre’ is a delight and must be one of Dante’s steps to Paradise!

Bill & Sue, UK, October 2014

Sandra & Paul. What an absolutely, beautiful location you have here at La Torre! Il Bacio was wonderful and just right to make us feel welcome. Our time spent here was perfect! We are soooo happy that we went ahead with our cooking course with Sandra, we learnt so much and the food was absolutely the best we had during our visit here. We were excited to rush home to eat! I am celiac and Sandra did a great job finding amazing recipes that we will cherish forever. Gnocchi, risotto, sauces for my special pasta, fritters and much more. Thank you so much Sandra, we will let you know how the recipes turn out at home. We spent every day visiting different places; Arezzo, Florence, Cortona & Poppi. Our favourite for the sheer beauty was Anghiari, Florence for shopping and Poppi for the castle. All were great. Take time to enjoy sitting in the sun by the pool, we had a little picnic down there and what more could you ask. Our hosts were wonderful, our nest perfect and our honeymoon was so much more than we ever expected. We hope to return to explore more of Tuscany in the future. Hugs!!!

Steve & Pam, Bellingham, WA, USA, September 2014

Dear Sandra, Paul and of course Vaz. Thank you for our wonderful week at your amazing Tuscany stone cottage, il Bacio. We thank you for your helpful information about the area and places worth seeing. We loved our evening trip to Anghiari and the lovely restaurant Nena, which served the most tasteful rustic Tuscan food. We surely can recommend this place to others. We have really enjoyed our week here, the beautiful gardens and spending time reading books and relaxing at the pool. Thank you so much for your hospitality and if you ever plan to come to Copenhagen, we would love to show you around and show you some of the best places there. Best wishes

Pia & Christian. Copenhagen, Denmark, August 2014

Dear Sandra and Paul, We have had a wonderful week staying here in il Bacio – a cute romantic cottage on the hill. We began our week with the prosecco you provided by the pool and finished the week in the same way having had so many amazing experiences along the way. The cooking class was a particular highlight – Thanks Sandra for all the tips – we will be sure to try them out when we get back home. Your welcome and friendly advice added to our stay, which will surely be one of the highlights of our 3 months European adventure.

Romano & Carol, Sydney, Australia. July 2014

Dear Sandra and Paul, there aren’t words to describe how wonderful our stay in il Bacio has been. We loved all the kindnesses that we found here. The house, the fresh fruits, the prosecco, the tips about the area, in fact everything. Thanks for all. Kisses from your new Brazilian friends.

Rafaela & Felipe, Rio di Janeiro, Brazil. June 2014

“Thank you Sandra, Paul and Vaz for giving us the opportunity to share your Tuscan paradise with you and welcoming us as your new neighbours for the whole month of May. You really made us feel like we had a home away from home by being available when we had a question and giving us tips on how to best experience a chosen town to visit or where to enjoy typical Tuscan food and thanks to Vaz for always welcoming us back home after our day trips. Il Bacio is a true ‘love nest’ allowing us to experience living within an authentic historical place set on a hill (in true Tuscan style). With a breathtaking view of the valley below, close enough to civilization but at the same time, in the middle of the beauty of nature, among olive trees, regular trees, flowers, many birds and the occasional wild boar encounter on our drive home in the evening, the call of owls and the hoopoo too. Vaz was a faithful companion, ready to greet us in the morning when we opened the door or in the evening when we came home before his bedtime! Surprisingly Roger, who is more a cat man rather than a dog lover was won over. Thank you Sandra for the wonderful cooking class. You are very supportive and an encouraging and enthusiastic teacher, everything we made was absolutely delicious, and it lasted for days. We came to Tuscany to celebrate a milestone anniversary and Sylvie’s birthday, we have had a wonderful time and definitely made the right decision to come to Tuscany and stay in il Bacio at La Torre. If you come to Canada, let us know, we would like to make your visit as memorable as our vist to you has been. Grazie mille!!!’

Sylvie & Roger, Toronto, Canada, May 2014

“Thank you both so much, we enjoyed everything about il Bacio, it’s so cosy and with everything we needed. The day trips were easy and there is still so much to see… next time. We loved il Cantuccio and the osso buco at Antica Osteria l’Agania in Via Mazzini. But best of all was just the relaxing before our journey back home and work …”

Jan & Kitty, Amsterdam, Netherlands April 2014

“Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality Sandra and Paul. We so enjoyed the cooking course with Sandra, we cannot believe how much we made and how good it was, like you said it lasted us for days. We will try it all out for a family lunch when we get back home. If you should ever want a ride in a convertible Saab, Sandra you know where to find us and you would be so welcome. Again, thanks for everything.”

Noel & Sue, Auckland, New Zealand, October 2013

“This holiday is so “special” – Sandra and Paul were the most perfect of hosts, respectful of your own space but there if you need them. Sandra’s fantastic cooking course added a further dimension to our holiday; she is a fab cook, communicator and fun to be with. The food we cooked lasted us for days. We enjoyed ourselves so much and have many fine memories to take home, they will last a lifetime. This holiday has been made super special by Sandra and Paul’s care and attention to detail.”

Lesley & Trevor, Yorkshire, UK, September 2013

“We’ve seen many holiday homes but never felt more welcome. Sandra, Paul and Vasco thank you very much for everything. The welcoming words, “you’ve made it, you are here!!” were a relief. Our first dinner was absolutely wonderful – the fresh fruit, the prosecco and the other welcome treats made up feel right at home. Your overall interest in our wellbeing. We felt more relaxed everyday and wished we booked for another week. We’re going to miss il Bacio and its wonderful owners and hope to see you again soon. Lots of love.”

Ellen & Feisal, Amsterdam, Netherlands, August 2013

“Dear Sandra, Paul and Wazz, this has been two fantastic weeks in il Bacio, enjoying the scenery of Tuscany and your great hospitality. Thanks for helping us prioritize our long list of things to see. This place truly is amazing and so relaxing. We have enjoyed the pool and the surroundings and seen beautiful historic monuments. Highlights were Montalcino, Montepulciano, Cortona, Siena, Pienza, and of course fantastic Arezzo. We decided to call this vacation our ‘honey moon’, we will for sure come back to this beautiful place and your great hospitality. Take care and good luck with living your dream. ”

Louise & Michael, Copenhagen, Denmark, August 2013

“Dear Sandra, Paul and Vaz, Thank you for all your hospitality, we’ve loved our stay in il Bacio, such an idyllic spot to relax and wind down. Thanks also for the recommendation to visit Cortona, such a beautiful place to watch the sun go down. This has been such a wonderful introduction to the delights of Tuscany, I’m sure we will return. Il Bacio has been so peaceful and we certainly appreciated the pool! Many thanks again.”

Louise & Stephen, Manchester, UK, July 2013

“Dearest Sandra, Paul and Vasco, we couldn’t have been happier to have stumbled across your delightful home. It is the dearest cottage and stunning grounds. Thanks for all your advice and tips to get the best out of our holiday, it made our stay so enjoyable. We’ll be sure to tell all our friends about your cute bit of Italy Thanks for Everything. Claire…

You made our stay here very special indeed, from the day trip suggestions to the general tips on living in il Bacio (how to live like the Tuscans and keep the shutters closed in the day to keep the house cool). I have never relaxed like I have this week. Thanks. Fran.”

Claire & Francis, Suffolk, UK, June 2013

“Dear Sandra, Paul and of course Vaz. We’ve had a wonderful week here at La Torre – what a beautiful, peaceful place you’ve created. Thank you for taking such good care of us – it made it extra special. The highlight of the week – the cooking course! We both learnt so much & Sandra was wonderful with us. The recipes were all delicious and we look forward to trying them at home in the UK. Once again, thank you for making it such a special holiday. Best wishes”

Natascha & Chris, London, UK, May 2013

“Sandra, Paul & Vaz. Your hospitality is the soul of il Bacio and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This location is perfect. – both to travel from and to enjoy in it’s own right. We journeyed to Cortona, Assisi, Firenze, Siena, Orvieto, Ravenna, Perugia, Gropina and Anghiari (luckily we did have two weeks!). We also enjoyed the antiques fair in Arezzo but the highlight was the cooking course with Sandra. We ate well for days! ‘Tis a shame to have to leave but we can always come back. So thank you both so much – Hugs!”

Kay & Scott, Boston USA but for now in Paris, April 2013

“Sandra & Paul, thank you both so much for your wonderful hospitality. From the beginning you made us feel very welcome and at home. We will always memorize this cosy cottage, il Bacio. We also appreciated the good recommendations you gave us which allowed us to see Anghiari, Sansepolcro and Poppi – all lovely places and worth the visit. Thank you also for that. You really care about your guests! Best wishes..”

Claudia & Manfred, Cologne, Germany, October 2012

“A wonderful week in a perfect location for the second week of our honeymoon! Sandra was the perfect host and could not have done more to help or provide advice on the local area. (Thank you also for the advice you gave me before I booked on how to spend the first week of the holiday when our son was with us.) The pool is incredibly relaxing, the water warm and crystal clean too. Arezzo is great to visit. Food at il Cantuccio and Gastronomia il Cervo were both very good. Visited Montepulciano, Pienza, Siena and the monastery at Monte Oliveto Maggiore. All worth a visit, especially the monastery. Found a great place to eat there called Locanda Paradiso. Proper Italian/Tuscan food experience and great value. All in all a gem of a place and hope you enjoy it here as much as we have.”

Alice & Simon, Leics., UK, September 2012

“We have had the most wonderful week in il Bacio! It has been a completely delightful house, with so many lovely touches and surrounded by utter tranquility. Lovely places to visit and see and such kind and welcoming hospitality. Thank you both so much, with our love and best wishes ..”

Alison & Paul, London, UK, August 2012

“Through a stroke of luck (and at the expense of another poor couple who had to cancel at the last minute) we managed to spend our week’s holiday here in wonderful cosy and relaxing il Bacio. It was exactly what we were looking for and spent our week, sleeping all the year’s stress off, eating way too much Tuscan food, reading the forgotten books, ohh – and cooling off in the pool, and enjoying the absence of city noise. A fabulous vacation we would whole-heartedly recommend to anyone! And need to mention the extremely generous, yet totally unobtrusive hospitality of Sandra and Paul. Thank you both very much!”

Assia & Tim, Zurich, Switzerland, July 2012

“Thank you for everything. We have had a wonderful and memorable stay in il Bacio! We have seen so much and done so many things we have lost track already. The highlight of course was cooking with Sandra. Thank you for showing us the ease of pasta making and the Tuscan crostini pate we made was to die for…. and the sugo too! Tops for day trips in the area were market day in Monte S Savino, Anghiari, Monte S Tiberinia and ‘la storia triste’ at Civitella in Val di Chiana. We would also recommend the early morning hike to the top of the mountain. Thank you for the great restaurant recommendations in Arezzo, as they were perfect! We will always have fond memories of our visit and will send all our friends. Maybe someday you will want to visit Bermuda and when you do – please let us know! Grazie mille.”

Eric & Janice, Hinson’s Island, Bermuda, June 2012

“Thank you again for making our first trip to Tuscany so enjoyable and for all your helpful suggestions for days out – we didn’t get to Florence, but that’s for next time. We both so enjoyed just relaxing, it was just what we needed after a stressful year. The highlight for us was the cooking course and we cannot wait to try out the dishes when we get home. Our friends are going to be so impressed, especially with the pasta. I will send a photo asap! Again many thanks and until next time."

Sophie & John, London, UK, May 2012

“Thank you both so much for our wonderful stay, our only regret that we had to leave one day early to get to our niece’s wedding. Il Bacio was just perfect, we had everything we needed and more to make our stay complete. Your suggestions for those ‘special’ places were also really helpful, the Michelin guide is fine but it never gets you to those almost off the map places. Again, many thanks for being such friendly and helpful hosts and of course a big hug to Vaz.”

Claire & David, Montreal, Canada, April 2012

“What a beautiful part of the world you have found and thank you both for sharing it with us. We have had a fantastic stay which was very relaxing after a hectic few days in Rome. Thank you for the recommendations on places to visit and the best places to eat. We definitely plan to come back to il Bacio soon, it was just perfect! Best wishes to you both and Vaz of course!”

Susan & Trevor, Glasgow, Scotland, October 2011

“Dear Sandra & Paul, thank you so very much for your wonderful hospitality. We have had a lovely time at La Torre and could not have asked or dreamed of such a magical place. We have had so much fun exploring the grounds, playing with Vaz, swimming and eating our way through Tuscany. We cannot wait to come back.”

Liz & Harrison, San Francisco, California, USA, September 2011

“It was rather a coincidence that we found il Bacio on the Internet, but it is definitely our PLAN to return soon! Thank you so much for the perfect setting to escape from the hectic city life and letting us share a bit of your warm, peaceful and friendly home. il Bacio is the perfect starting point to discover the stunning beauty of Tuscany but nevertheless you are always happy to come to this peaceful piece of heaven in the evening. This was a time we will always remember!”

Bernhard & Jessica, Cologne, Germany, August 2011

“We chose Italy for our honeymoon thanks to the books I read growing up and our love of Italian food and she certainly didn't disappoint. Il Bacio is an ideal honeymoon location It's romantic and we could have happily stayed holed up here if there had been rain, but luckily the sun shone for us and we were able to explore the beautiful Tuscan countryside. We love Arezzo, Poppi, Anghiari and especially the Santa Maria della Scalla in Siena. Most of all we loved the food and cooking delicious Italian dinners of our own, enjoying lazy mornings & evenings - devouring books and playing board games (ask Sandra for the games box!). Thank you Paul and Sandra for all your helpful recommendations and advice, your beautiful home is a delight to stay at. We really enjoyed all the lovely extra thoughtful touches we discovered after we had unpacked. And, yes Sandra, we'll definitely take a trip to Thorington for you when we get home, as it is just a few minutes from our house. Thanks again for everything and we are sad to have to leave. ps. Make sure you eat lots of gelato, it really is the best.”

Laura & Joseph UK, July 2011

“Dear Sandra and Paul, We've been here for only one week - too short, but it was quality time. On Saturday we weren't sure we had found the right place, but there was Sandra, waving and welcoming us, "You've made it". Behind and besides her the colourful flowers were eyecatchers. She showed us our home for the next 7 days and I was entranced by the charming, romantic atmosphere. Thank you very much for your warm welcome in the house too, the flowers, the food & drinks, it was very special to me, to us. Next days we experienced your hospitality. Being around, without giving us the feeling that we weren't free to the things our way. And yet always willing to provide us with information about nice places to go and to lend us maps, books and so on. The way up and down is much easier than one thinks when you are doing it for the first time, although I can see that if you have snow you would have to walk. Thank you for showing us the tower, it really is fascinating. You are welcome to visit us in Holland and we could show you the non-tourist places in our country, but please dont feel obliged but please come! So thank you again and ARRIVEDERCI and love from... ps I'm sure I've fogotten to write down half of what I wanted to tell you! ”

Kitty & Jan Willem, Naarden, Holland, June 2011

“Super week here in wonderful Tuscany and Arezzo. Many thanks to our lovely hosts Sandra and Paul for all the helpful tips to get the best out of this wonderful part of the world. We recommend a trip to Anghiari, it is picture perfect!. Many thanks too for all the welcoming touches in il Bacio to help us settle in. Good luck in the future. ”

Neil & Julie, Malvern, UK, May 2011

“So we are the first of your season - to enjoy sunny days & peaceful nights in il Bacio. We used to think that all the pictures and art that tries to capture Tuscany's beauty were fake, but we discovered that they certainly are real!. We tried to absorb and inhale as much of it as we could and felt dizzy with the experience. (I call it Tuscany's intoxication!!) but I am sure it will pass and we will be back for more. Thank you very much Sandra and Paul for your hospitality and you made us welcome with every little detail. Take care and again thank you ”

Edina & Elod, Toronto, Canada, April 2011

“Sandra & Paul, your warm hospitality and generosity have made our second stay in il Bacio just as special as the first visit five years ago! We've discovered some fascinating out-of-the-way places as well as revisiting some of our favourite towns. To just unwind and relax in your delightful garden is a treat in itself. Thank you both so much and with our very best wishes... ”

James & Liz, Bedford, UK, October 2010

“Well, we arrived late because our ferry from Greece had been delayed ... but following Sandra's oncall advice we managed to get here in the dark! What a great place!! The ambience, the surroundings and the friendly 'feel at home' welcome from Sandra and Paul made our stay so enjoyable. We loved the cooking course and ate well for days!! Thanks for looking after us so well... and the fresh figs were delicious. Who knows if we will get the chance to pass this way again, but we hope so. ”

Paul & Sue, Sidney, Australia, September 2010

“David and I were looking for somewhere special to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary - and we found it here at La Torre! We have walked, talked, read, laughed, visited, shopped, eaten (!!!) drank (!!!) swam, and finally relaxed ... amidst the most beautiful and romantic of settings, under the bluest skies, and with wonderful hosts! La Torre è bella! fantastica and perfetto! Grazie per tutti! ”

Karen & David, Yorkshire, UK, August 2010

“Our last holiday as a couple for a while (our first baby is due in the Autumn) and what could be more perfect than La Torre. After a week of travelling around by car (Opera in Verona, Lucca, Cinque Terra and Siena) we arrived here for peace, rest and relaxation. We had some hot and lazy days (although we don't think Paul and Sandra consider a 45 mins. run before breakfast every day to be lazy!!) After some hours of rest by the pool we spent the afternoons in Arezzo, Cortona, Poppi and Monterchi (a must for all Mums to be!) or just here in our lovely romantic house. Thank you Sandra and Paul for the warm welcome and the hospitality you have shown during our stay. We are sure we'll miss the heat when we go back to Norway (especially in January with up to -25oC!) ”

Else & Preben, Oslo, Norway, July 2010

“What a wonderful spot for a week or even two! Thank you for making our existential crisis worse - as we go back to our hectic New York existence, we'll be thinking of the great views, great food and great wine in Tuscany. We want to live here!!! We are thrilled to have stayed here in il Bacio, so beautifully and wonderfully appointed. We also, like previous guests enjoyed our morning visits from Vaz. Again, a heartfelt thank you.”

Danny & Eric, New York, USA. June 2010

“Many thanks for a lovely week, the hightlight of which was the cooking course, we thoroughly enjoyed it, especially eating all the food we have cooked. And, we take home a new love for Italian food. We found Arezzo, very easy for getting to other parts of Italy and we got the 'Eurostar' train to Rome, it only takes 1 hour 8 mins!! Sandra also told us about an ice-cream palour in Arezzo, its called 'Violetta' and its near the Eden car park. Quite simply the best ice cream ever!!.”

Mike & Val, Fareham, UK. May 2010

“Thank you so much Sandra, Paul and of course Vaz, for such a warm welcome and continued kindness through the week. We thoroughly enjoyed the cooking course and off home now to cook up a massive pots of ragu and a huge batch of cantucci biscuits. We managed to see some very pretty places and Anghiari, as everyone says in the book was the favourite. The beauty of Tuscany was evident everywhere - the wild flowers - the sea of poppies, campion and other lovely pinks + purples + yellows. Thank you once again and hope that future guests continue to enjoy il Bacio and La Torre as much as us and everyone who has gone before has."

Helen & Colin, UK. April 2010

“We've had our honeymoon at il Bacio too! It's really a place where we could let the world go by - for two weeks! After the wedding it was fantastic to come to this quiet and peaceful place. Thank you Sandra and Paul for your warm welcome and all the good advice. We really enjoyed our time at il Bacio. Hopefully we will be back some day soon.”

Susanne & Christoph, Cologne , Germany. October 2009

“Our two weeks have flown by! The first spent just lazing around the pool and the second trying to see as much as we could - but still loads more for next time! Musts - Cortona, Arezzo, Florence and Siena. The arrival supper made our first night really special and the cooking course was fantastic. We learnt so much and I can't wait to try out some of the recipes when I get home. So many thanks Sandra, Paul and of course gorgeous wacky Vaz. We have loved every minute.”

Vanessa and Larry, New York State , USA. September 2009

“Thank you so much Sandra, Paul and Vaz. Spot on with your finishing touches!! A beautiful setting from which to begin our exploration of Tuscany. Would advise an early start to complete the return walk to the bottom of the hill - a must if you expect seconds or dolce!! We managed to visit Siena and Cortona and would recommend them to your future guests. We truly hope to return next uear. Too good to miss!”

Hilary & Keith, Brighton, England. August 2009

“A perfect place to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary with the complimentary bottle of Prosecco we found in the fridge. The peace and tranquility were greatly appreciated after a long journey and a hectic few months. We shall return home suitably relaxed with some very special memories of visits to Cortona, Anghiari, Poppi and of course Arezzo, of swimming in the pool in the late afternoons, of the helpful advice of Sandra and Paul and of course Vaz who has a delightful and playful personality. Thank you for a great week - especially for the glorious sunshine and endless blue skies every day.”

Martin & Morag, Worcester, England. July 2009

“We arrived here on Monday 8th June for our honeymoon after a mad busy couple of months wedding planning plus the wedding itself and La Torre was exactly what we needed. So peaceful and relaxing, our sweet cottage has suited us well. Its exactly how I have always pictured Italy, surrounded by beautiful flowers and in the nighttime we looked out and saw fire flies. Sandra and Paul have been great, full of knowledge & being so helpful with finding out train times etc. We have been to Rome, Cortona, Poppi, Florence, Chianti, Umbria and our favourite is Siena. Truly beautiful. We recommend leaving visiting until 4pm onwards as it is not so busy and the heat has died down a bit so you can enjoy it more. Also the tour groups will have left. La Torre has been a fantastic experience and we hope to return again some day. Thanks to Sandra, Paul and Vaz for being so caring and helpful and making it easier to feel settled and relaxed. Many Thanks. ps. Sandra, the tiramisu was the best!!”

Karen & Alan, Northern Ireland.June 2009

“Our long-anticipated honeymoon week in Tuscany has exceeded all expectations. We have apparently been very lucky with the weather - May and 30oC all week. We had fabulous day trips, getting used to Italian driving conventions, road signs and searching out car-parks in the hill towns. Montepulciano and Montalcino lovely to walk around and superb scenery on the road between - Tuscan countryside at its best. Cortona, another high spot - literally and easy to park at the town wall and walk up. Anghiari also worth a visit. Day trip to Florence on the train was excellent - slow train home took a nice scenic route though all the villages..We wanted somewhere peaceful to stay for a week and La Torre has been just that. ..Sandra and Paul have been marvellous hosts and their advice on where to to has made our day trips all the more magical.”

Keith & Maggie, Berwick, Scotland. May 2009

“What more can we add to the glowing comments about il Bacio, the Tuscan area with the brilliant hill towns, the frescoes in churches and cathedrals and the hospitality of Sandra, Paul and that wagging Vaz. A few highlights for us were: The Della Robbia exhibitions in Poppi and La Verna. La Verna itself - an unexpectedly moving experience and the rolling Tuscan hills around Montepuclciano (just like you see in picutres when you dream of Tuscany). This was our 30th Anniversay trip - starting in Paris, then here in Tuscany and now onto the Cinque Terre (thanks for finding us somewhere to stay). We will finish up in Provence. A worthy trip for a worthy 30 years! Enjoy your time here - remember we are just on this precious planet for a moment in time... we were reminded of this as we walked down the medieval drive, which was once a Roman road and before that an Etruscan track that graces this property."

Rod & Liz, Toronto, Canada. April 2009

“Thank you so much to Sandra and Paul for sharing their Place in the Sun. When I saw il Bacio on the website I dared to dream it was as good as it looked and it certainly was! We go back to Australia with fond memories of Tuscany, her people and La Torre. I will be recommending you to our friends both here and in UK and you never know one day we may come visit again, hope so. By the way if you do make the big trip down under please let us know as there is always room at our home.

Jan & Mick, Canberra, Australia. October 2008

“This is a wonderful place to relax and yet not far from "civilisation" and the little shop in Bagnoro is so convenient. We did find the chocolates (and we ate them!) So many lovely special touches, so much thought put into it, this cottage is perfect just like a dolls' house. Thank you Sandra and Paul for your assistance in sightseeing trips and lending us Vaz for our lovely walks. We loved it here, everything is beautiful. Again thank you for our wonderful two weeks."

Boo Hoo.... We're back in England....We were so sad to leave the cottage and La Torre and it did not feel as if we had spent a fortnight there! I am taking the risk of repeating myself (a sign of old age I am told), but you have found a really wonderful house and so conveniently located, it is fantastic! Not to mention the special dog and his silly games! (email)

Maurice & Jocelyn, UK and France. October 2008

“A special thank you to Paul and Sandra for sharing their beautiful, tranquil home with us. Their hospitality has been second to none and they couldn't have been more kind providing everything that we needed. Here we have managed to stop the world and get off for a few days. Cortona, Lucignano, Siena and of course Arezzo were all excellent days out. There were two highlights to the week - the cooking course with Sandra and the company of Vaz! We shall miss you all and hope to return one day soon. Many thanks!!”

Ray & Wendie, Dorset,UK. September 2008

“We have enjoyed a wonderful week in this lovely cottage in Toscana - it has been a beautiful experience, just what we were looking for - idylic! Great weather, great countryside, great food, etc. etc. etc!!! Thanks to Sandra and Paul for being such great hosts - loved the home-made conserves and fresh fruit from the garden! Hope to be back some time to do some more exploring."

"Sandra and Paul - what can we say? Hosts par excellence!! Two (too) short weeks in a fantastic location which exceeded even our greatest expectations. Il Bacio is totally unique and the perfect romantic escape. Your helpful advice/tips helped us enjoy several great day trips (and stocked up Linda's shoe wardrobe). You made our first night (Linda's 50th) particularly special, thank you again for that. We take home many happy memories and your lovely olive oil, and look forward to arranging our next visit. Thank you again and a special pat for Vaz.”

John & Linda, Hertfordshire,UK. August 2008

“il Bacio is just how I imagine the house in Goldilocks to be. Not that Sandra, Paul and Vaz are the three bears but instead three fantastic hosts. The pool has been our best place to relax and plan our adventures beyond La Torre. Cortona, Anghiari, Siena, Arezzo, San Gimignano are amazing and we'd highly recommend any of them. (Thank you Paul for bringing out our lust for exploration). We will keep fond memories of Vaz's amusements, tricks and laughs. Last but not least, thank you Sandra for being such a wonderful and yet discreet hostess. Many thanks.” p.s. Did we mention how much we loved the pool?

Isabelle & John, Paris and Dublin. August 2008

“We have had such a wonderful time here in il Bacio – we’re frescoed out! Sandra and Paul have been so helpful – including taking in our washing when we were out when a freak storm came up. Perfect location and easy to get everywhere (Italian roads were surprisingly pleasant!). Great trips to Siena and especially Anghiari – beautiful hilltown with a great cheap pizzeria in the main square. Thank you both so much! x.”

Gemma & Andy, Londn,UK. July 2008

“Just catching some final rays by the glorious pool… how time flies when you’re having fun. We’ve had a great week in il Bacio, it has been everything we expected and more. Sandra and Paul have been great hosts and we have really benefitted from their local knowledge. They’re here for you if you need them but never intrusive. We particularly enjoyed La Cantintta de Rignano with glorious view over Chianti. Vaz has kept us amused with his obsessive guarding of his toys. We will both look back on our times at La Torre with very fond memories.”

Katherine & Chris, London, UK. July 2008

“Not sure how much the birds get paid but they deserve every penny! The joy of being woken by birdsong, their busy conversations accompanying you on walks, the dwindling babble long after sunset and the final prize.... sometimes waking to hear the owls hunting in the woods. It's a gorgeous place and feels like the place in the country you've always wanted to make. Thank you Sandra and Paul for making it for us. With warm regards.”

Andy and Trish, Sydney, Australia. June 2008

“Our last evening sitting outside, drinking a bottle of 2 euro red! How time flies when you are having fun, and we have! Sightseeing, sitting around the numerous cafes watching the world go by and generally chilling out. We have had a wonderful time, we will be back - certainly. I wonder if everyone finds the chocolates - it took me 5 mins. but then I'm nosey.”

Richard and Carol, Cheshire, UK.June 2008

“After several frantically busy months we were looking for a Tuscan idyll that would give us a complete get away. We couldn't possibly have chosen better. La Torre's setting, grounds and facilities are perfect. And of course, the hospitality and attention to detail of Sandra, Paul and Vaz,(though the latter's primary attention was with his toys) have made the experience complete. Not for nothing is the earlier description of Sandra as a one-woman resource centre echoed by us. We have every intention of coming back to La Torre and we don't say that about many places we visit.”

David and Joa, London, UK. May 2008

“Many thanks to Sandra and Paul for your warm hospitality and many wonderful thoughtful touches - the welcome treats, the great ideas on where to visit, the charming and comfortable surroundings. We have so enjoyed this part of our vacation. I have left the address of that restaurant which does the most amazing Fiorentina, and, if you are ever in Vancouver you must call! With appreciation.”

Janice & Steve. Vancouver, Canada. May 2008

“Dear Sandra and Paul, What a lovely week! The website does not do La Torre justice, although I supppose it is much better to be very pleasantly surprised than disappointed; and we not NOT disappointed Anyone who has not beat, chopped, cut, diced, minced, rolled, seared and stewed in Sandra's tower has not had a full visit to La Torre, the cooking course was fantastic - really good fun and we learnt lots too! Thank you for the maps and travel tips allowing us to navigate our way throught the winding roads in Tuscany, Umbria and hopefully (successfully) to the airport at Pisa. We have enjoyed ourselves immensely and you have taught us so much”

James & Barbara. Miami, Florida, USA . April 2008

“It has been a long-anticipated trip back to Italy, 30 years since we last explored the country as young backpackers, not sure where to go or how best to appreciate what we did see. Now we have come back to ‘see’ what our young eyes missed way back then. We hadn’t been to Tuscany at all and friends recommended La Torre as the perfect location to explore the region. Making our way out of Florence we somehow hit the A1 to Arezzo and made our way to this special place. The warm welcome we received from Sandra & Paul stripped away the tiredness of the day. We then sat down to a beautiful dinner which kept us going for another day and a half! This stop in our travels gave us the much needed space to reflect, dream and just be. Tuscany is beautiful, historic and full of marvels many of which are locked away in our camera, while La Torre is locked away in our hearts. Thank you Paul & Sandra for providing the comfort and space to just be and to ‘the tail wagging the dog’ Vaz who kind of summed up how we felt each day here – happy!”

Tony & Barbara. Sydney, Australia. October 2007

“What a wonderful place Tuscany is – the food, the wine, the people and the landscape. We have fallen in love and just can’t wait to come back. Thank you so much Sandra and Paul for sharing this little slice of heaven with us and being such good hosts/tour guides/cooks and all manner of other things. We’ll miss Vaz’s wagging tail! The only down side – it went by far too quickly!”

Nichola & Mark. Santa Barbara, California, USA. October 2007

“Thank you both for our lovely week in il Bacio – it had everything we needed - it was so clean and well presented. The arrival supper was wonderful; we didn’t get to finish it until Sunday! We especially appreciated your readiness to offer expert advice when we needed it and the route you suggested to Siena was wonderful. We loved Vaz popping by – he is such a star!”

Jan & John. Cambridgeshire, England. September 2007

“Bellissimo – We have read all the other comments and can only echo them. Thank you for your extraordinary hospitality during our stay with you and sharing your dream in this little ‘piece of heaven’. Your advice on places to go was so helpful, it definitely made our trip even more wonderful and memorable. We had a great time and you made our holiday the most relaxed ever! Many thanks again.”

Trevor & Nicki. Kent, England. September 2007

“We’ve had a lovely week here in il Bacio. We’ve enjoyed Arezzo as a base for our trips to Cortona, Siena, San Gimingano, Montpulciano and the Chianti countryside. There are many lovely restaurants in Arezzo, we tried a different one every night and not a bad meal was had. Thank you Sandra, Paul & Vaz for making us feel so welcome.”

Steve & Julie. London, UK. August 2007

“Thank you for sharing with us this truly special place. We have spent a wonderful week in il Bacio and are sorry to see it some to an end. As regular visitors, Tuscany never fails to impress!!!”

William & Bryony. London, UK. August 2007

“Our second visit to il Bacio – last year, 1 week was not enough – this year we have proved that two weeks isn’t either! In spite of being ribbed for our lack of adventure, we have enjoyed our various visits to Arezzo, Siena, Lucignano and Cortona. A day trip to Rome, courtesy of Eurostar and an open-topped sightseeing bus was superb and very reasonable. Sistine Chapel, St. Peters and the Colosseum et al – all in a day! It has been wonderfully warm and we have thoroughly enjoyed doing nothing! As well as the relaxed attentions of Sandra and Paul, Vaz, the incomparable, four-legged butler/courtjester has continued to entertain us. Can’t wait to see you all again!”

Richard & Debbie. Essex, UK. July 2007

“il Bacio is perfect – cute and beautifully appointed. It has been a wonderful week, especially having my son Tom and his fiancée “next door” in La Veduta. We have been very spoilt having the lovely gardens and pool to ourselves. We loved Arezzo and the surrounding area – so many frescoes and so much history!! Hope to be back very soon.”

Sue. Worcs, UK. July 2007

"As the final week of our honeymoon , il Bacio was the perfect place to spend it. The location, accommodation and scenery were all perfect and the hospitality of Sandra and Paul made our stay even more enjoyable. Can’t wait to come back!!"

Emma & Lee. Co. Down, N.Ireland. June 2007

"Our long-awaited holiday in il Bacio has come and gone… we have had a fantastic week, the towns and cities were wonderful but what we most enjoyed was the peace and tranquility at La Torre, the beautiful surroundings, the pool, the scenery and of course, how could we not mention the wonderful Vaz . What a character. Thank you so much Paul and Sandra, for our much needed “therapy”, we return to the UK revitalized. We hope to be back soon."

Joanne & George. Northamptonshire, UK. June 2007

"We have enjoyed a week of peace and tranquility here at La Torre – a blissful bit of Tuscan paradise. We want to name this mini idyll – La Casa piccolo nell’albero because it really is like being in a little tree house when you peek out of the bedroom window to the green beyond. We enjoyed it all, many thanks to Sandra for lots of helpful advice and tips."

Philippa & Dave. London, UK. June 2007

"After five hectic days in Florence , il Bacio was everything we could ask for – and more. We have enjoyed exploring the area, with the Piero della Francesca exhibition, Cortona and a drive around Chianti being our particular highlights. But most of all we have enjoyed the tranquility at La Torre – watching the sunrise over the hills and the fireflies under the stars. And of course, not forgetting Vaz – bundles of fun and the perfect hairy companion! We leave with fond memories and hope to return in the future. Until then… Forza La Torre!"

Jillian & Barry. Edinburgh, Scotland. May 2007

"Thank you for our lovely stay and your generous hospitality – we felt so welcome in il Bacio. We really felt like guests rather than tenants which immediately adds to the feeling of rest and relaxation. We had a lovely week and would thoroughly recommend the ‘Views of Tuscany’ day trip mentioned in the big folder. A must for any keen photographer. Vas was a delightful companion and we hope to come back soon."

Alex & Diana. Cheltenham, UK. May 2007

"Il Bacio is definitely worth travelling 1284 kilometres by car from the Netherlands! We enjoyed the beautiful view from La Torre onto Arezzo as well as the beautiful plants and flowers in the garden. We visited lots of medieval places, but we preferred the quiet little ones. When we go back we will miss the Vas welcome walk by the side of the car. Hope to see you all again. Loving Greetings."

Zafer & Geesje, The Netherlands. May 2007

"The two weeks were fantastic! Everything was so beautiful and the weather was great. Thanks for your help, we had a chance to see so many great cities and countryside. This vacation went by way too quickly!! Hopefully we will be back again."

Alex & Michele. Cooperstown, NY, USA. April 2007

"Two weeks at La Torre – and we are reminded of just what makes ‘Life Beautiful’. Sandra and Paul thank you for sharing all this with us. It was wonderful."

Shirley & Rob. Gills Rocks, WI, USA. April 2007

"Life at il Bacio a year on... is every bit as good as we remember it if not better. The weather this time was perfect, warm with beautiful blue skies. We have spent more time at La Torre this time and less time gallavanting about, but we did manage to climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa and exhaust ourselves and made the must-do trip to Assisi which was beautiful. We would highly recommend it. As usual Paul and Sandra have made sure we had everything we needed. We have definitely decided that Vaz has the most perfect life here, what with great surroundings, doting owners and daft guests to keep you entertained, who says its a dogs life. I, for one would like to come back as Vaz. This is perfect. We will be back! Again and again."

Marlyn & Ernie. Scotland. October 2006

"We arrived late to a warm, torch-light welcome. Next morning we woke up hearing the birds outside the little window. When you then open up the shutters and the light floods in, you feel good - as we did that first morning and every morning since. This place is beautiful - it is just as simple as that. We agree with many other guests that Sandra and Paul and friendly, warm and never intrusive. There is a peaceful atmosphere here and we appreciated that. We had a great time here in il Bacio and it is fun to cook in the kitchen closet... especially with all the goodies that Italian shops can provide. Thank you for everything.

Gabriel & Sanne, USA/Denmark. October 2006

"Sandra, Paul and of course, Vaz: Grazie! We truly had a wonderful two weeks with you here at La Torre. Your hospitality and accommodations were the highlight of our trip to Tuscany with parents Tim and Liz (in La Veduta). We enjoyed our time with Vaz - he filled what could have been a "dog void" for two weeks! We appreciated all of your directions and advice on our day trips, restaurants, foods etc. You certainly have found your calling here in the Tuscan hills. Thank you for making our stay such a delightful and memorable one! With Warm Regards."

Sarah and Edwin. Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. September 2006

"How to describe il Bacio - small but perfectly formed! We came to celebrate 25 years of marriage and to enjoy the ancient charm of La Torre. Sandra and Paul and genuinely hospitable and Vaz has been dutifully attentive. A holiday that will be remembered for a long tme to come. Next time we shall give ourselves two weeks as time has just flown by! Kindest Regards.

Wendy & Chris. Chichester, England. September 2006

"We have loved il Bacio! And you have looked after us so beautifully - with amazing dinner on arrival and goodies in the fridge and chocolates secreted in the bedroom! We've had a wonderful time exploring Tuscan treasures, then returning to La Bella Torre. Hospitality as warm as the Tuscan Sun. A perfect Honeymooners' Haven. Mille Grazie xx"

Charlotte and Andrew, London, UK August 2006

"We have never travelled to Italy before but we certainly will again. The warmth of your welcome, your enthusiasm for all things Italian, your guidance and many kindnesses have made our holiday a "five +" star rated experience. After a week, we still do not understand Vaz's game, but he is always so pleased to see us it hardly seems to matter! His charms and excellent canine manners will long be remembered.
Sincere thanks and much love"

Richard & Debbie, Essex, UK August 2006

"The landscape in Tuscany is everything I imagined it would be - but La Torre was even more wonderful than I expected. Thank you Paul and Sandra for creating such a beautiful retreat."
"I have challenged Paul to get up each morning and run down the hill to Bagnoro and back - to impress us with how fit he is … and then to do it wearing full armour - that's part of the heritage that comes with owning such an historic site. Don't' miss the little church in Bagnoro, the castle at Poppi and loads more. Il Bacio is great - everything you need in a cosy package. Thanks again."

Jan & Tom Starnes, Austin, Texas, USA July 2006

"Having been to Tuscany before our expectations were high, but the two big "H's" of La Torre (History and Hospitality) have way surpassed anything we could have imagined. Many thanks to Sandra and Paul and not forgetting Vaz, whose kindness and helpfulness made for an unforgettable experience. This place really is 'Heaven under the Tuscan Sun'".

Mike & Angela, Liverpool, UK. July 2006

"Fireflies at night - so peaceful! A beautiful outlook and such a relaxing break from the stresses of town. Sandra and Paul thanks for your hospitality and sharing your beautiful surroundings. Oh! Nearly forgot to mention eating out - which is another reason why it is such a treat to come to this part of Italy. A big thank you to Vaz for helping me not miss my own dog too much. A Super week and we hope to return next year"

Christine & Cliff. Oxfordshire, UK June 2006

A beautiful and rural setting; a tranquil place from which to experience Tuscany away from the city. During the warm weather it has been bliss to enjoy the garden, views, pool and hillside breeze. We walked to the top of Monte Lignano - the wild flowers and butterflies were abundant; we saw hoopoos, tree creapers, and in the evening enjoyed the fire fly display. Sandra and Paul have perfected the art of good hosts, of being ready to chat, around if needed, but never making us feel awkward about just being here, revelling in La Torre at whatever time of day - whilst the handsome Vaz offered us company and games.
Thank you - we have had a wonderful, relaxing and happy week.

Andrew & Gill, Harrogate, UK June 2006

La Torre has been a beautiful and relaxing haven for a week yet so close to Arezzo and many other interesting places.
Thank you Paul, Sandra and Vaz, you have been wonderful hosts. We loved the wagging tail and smile from Vaz as we opened our door each morning. Il Bacio is the sweetest cottage and provided everything we needed. We loved waking to the sun sparkling through the window, hearing the birds and the hum of Oswaldo and his old tractor next door - all part of the rural (real) life in Tuscany.
Grazie mille and we hope to see you soon.

Sandra & Trevor, Melbourne, Australia, May 2006

We have had a lovely few days here on our third visit to La Torre - our first in il Bacio.
It is the cutest cottage and very comfortable. We have relaxed, eaten well and pottered around but the main pleasure is meeting up again with Sandra, Paul and of course Vaz! Hospitable and very kind. We love it here and we will be back.

Margaret & Wendy, Rockcliffe, Scotland, April 2006

Our second visit this year, this time to il Bacio, for a much needed renewal of energy. We much appreciated the many finishing touches, enjoyed peaceful days and long walks but wonderful visits to Florence, Poppi and Anghiari weren't to be missed though - and the train ride to Florence was so simple.
Warm, helpful, but discrete hosts, Sandra and Paul made the week perfect. Now we know the hard labour that goes into olive picking. See you soon!

Ann & Dave, Oxfordshire. November 2005

Our first time in Italy and extremely impressed, especially by La Torre. Il Bacio is a wonderful, wee haven, cosy and with everything to hand. We've had a wonderful week, done and seen lots of things. The train service in Italy is fantastic, it took us to Rome and Florence and back! The roads about here are spectacular too, especially to San Marino. The hill towns are a must, especially impressed by Cortona and Anghiari.
Especially enjoyed Vaz's company and Paul and Sandra you have been great hosts, providing everything we needed. We will definitely be back.

Marlyn & Ernie, Scotland. October 2005

Il Bacio is the perfect 'gingerbread' house and is like a Tardis with all the nooks and crannies. Vaz was always the perfect host: never late for breakfast, always ready for sports, long walks and very charming with the ladies. He was helped from time to time by Sandra and Paul, who ensured that our every need was met. We will return some time soon and check progress - don't spoil it!

Jon & Jan, UK. September 2005

We’ve had the most fantastic week here in our little house. The weather turned warm and sunny and we enjoyed walks with Vas, you’re very lucky we haven’t stolen him! He is the dog to end all dogs! La Torre is a beautiful, serene place and a week spent here has left us so relaxed. I’ll never forget our mornings waking to the sunlight filtering through the walnut tree. Had some great trips out – Siena, Cortona, Sansepolcro etc. but my advice – make sure you spend time doing nothing but enjoying the views, air and stillness. Sandra and Paul have been lovely and I’d definitely recommend a massage by Sandra – a real treat! Words are not enough but many, many thanks for one of the best hols. We’ve ever had!

Louise & Julian, Cheltenham, UK. September 2005

Where do we start... Italy never disappoints! La Torre was amazing; A truly wonderful and relaxing stay. Sandra and Paul are great hosts and seem to love their new life here at La Torre and Arezzo (who wouldn’t). Vas is, as everyone keeps saying, “the most beautiful dog in Italy”...endless games to be played. Il Bacio was so wonderful, romantic and comfortable. The weather, location and especially the hosts... all made for a wonderful holiday. Keep in touch.

Lee & Jon, Bath, UK. September 2005

La Torre was a fairytale experience... just when we thought we had seen everything we stumbled on another new experience. The people of Tuscany are its real treasure, everyone is so nice. Arezzo was marvellous and so friendly. We will always remember wine and lunch in the Piazza Grande, yes, the wine and lunch. Paul and Sandra what absolutely wonderful hosts, we felt so comfortable and welcome at La Torre. Nothing seemed to be a bother, we will miss Tuscany and La Torre. But most of all we will miss our new friends Sandra and Paul, until we meet again...

Jim & Nicole, El Paso, Texas, USA. August 2005

Having spent the winter running our ski chalet, it was wonderful to become ‘guests’ again. La Torre is just paradise! Such wonderful scenery and ambience. Il Bacio is so sweet and we both enjoyed our stay here so much. A week just isn’t enough – leaving here – longing for more though is never a bad thing. I’m sure we will be back! Thank you for making our stay so lovely and perfect. (The flowers are wonderful!)

Mel & Sean, UK. July 2005

What a wonderful fortnight we have spent in Il Bacio - a magical time amonst beautiful scenery. Wonderful gardens overlooking Arezzo with the fireflies ‘dancing’ over the trees in the evenings. Only one problem with our stay here, it has spoilt us for any other holiday we take elsewhere. Sandra and Paul have been perfect hosts – genuinely warm and friendly and with an obvious love of their newly adopted country. We will return home with warm hearts, fond memories, and nicely toned right arms from playing ‘fetch’ with the infamous and handsome Vaz! Thank you, best wishes and good luck for the future...

Natalie & Richard, UK. June 2005

From the moment we drove through your gates, we knew this would be a perfect holiday. We have very much enjoyed having such a peaceful, beautiful and convenient place from which to enjoy Tuscany. Every thing we could have possibly needed during our stay was already thoughtfully here and it was such a warm, comfortable and inviting place to rest our heads after long days exploring the nearby towns and countryside. We enjoyed evenings on the terrace soaking in the sunsets, the fireflies and views with a bottle of local Chianti. And could there be a better positioned pool anywhere? Thank you so much, we’ve had a wonderful time and take back memories to last a lifetime.

Jen & Tim. Australia/London. June 2005

What can we say....? Our stay at La Torre may have been short in time but will be long on memories. We may have arrived as guests but feel we are leaving as friends. Il Bacio is the sweetest place we have ever stayed in and together with the countryside, the weather and the company far outstripped our expectations. (Prepare to be inundated with ‘Geordies’) Best Wishes.

Sue & Michael. Newcastle. May 2005 p.s. Would you like to adopt us – please?

At the end of our honeymoon…. we look out at a honey moon…, from our window in il Bacio, the remnants of a full moon which has lit the night sky for past week. The past eight days have come to mean peace and relaxation in this place away from the bustle of life in the 21st century. The cottage was great, so well equipped and comfortable, plenty of hot water when needed and above all - private and peaceful. We have enjoyed ourselves beyond our thoughts with excursions to Siena and Cortona amongst the most enjoyable. But most of all the chance of a real break… with the welcome advice from our backseat hosts, Paul and Sandra, being both needed and heeded. Thank you! p.s. Vas is the only dog in Tuscany worth knowing!

Gary & Lucy, England. October 2004

Wonderful time spent in a place unspoilt by the advance of tourism. The best bits for us we found very close by! Sandra and Paul could not have made us feel more welcome and who could not be moved by Vas!

Andy & Amanda, Nottingham, UK September 2004

Il Bacio - A tiny piece of heaven in the Tuscan hillside. Tranquil, beautiful and spiritual. Hopefully we will return. Wonderful and friendly hosts, ever caring enough that all is well. Salute! Sandra and Paul

Claudia & Godfrey, Hertfordshire, UK September 2004

A wonderful week spent in the most beautiful surroundings, doing all our favourite things - eating, drinking and meandering! Our little house was perfect, cosy and romantic! Many thanks to Sandra and Paul for their warm welcome and much needed advice. p.s. Vas is the most handsome dog in Toscana.

Tui & David, UK. September 2004

A fairytale place, enchanting and beguiling - the perfect place for a honeymoon retreat. However, it was not just the stunning scenery, peaceful tranquilty or beautiful romantic il Bacio that made our stay so special, but the small touches and warm hospitality we received throughout our stay - thank you. The grapes were particularly delicious. Cortona was wonderful, Anghiari peaceful (highly recommended) and the Giostra del Saraceno amazing, we will miss all this in wet and windy England. We had such a fantastic time and you were both so helpful and friendly it really made a difference. With all our good wishes,

Ben & Jude, London, UK. August 2004

Just want to say a big thank you for the splendid week I enjoyed in Italy and il Bacio. Il Bacio is really charming with such lovely little touches all around, very traditional yet very comfortable. The walks have been lovely together with the beautiful scenery. Arezzo is such a lovely quaint city - and Cortona and Florence are so easy to get to. Paul and Sandra, and of course Vas, have made me most welcome, ensuring all my needs are taken care of.
A truly lovely week that couldn't have been better. Thank you so much! Grazie

Carol, Somerset, UK. May 2004

La Veduta

“Dear Sandra & Paul, You are such gracious hosts! Thank you for being so helpful and giving us so many important tips. Your passion for Tuscany is infectious, and Sandra, your culinary and teaching skills made our special cooking class a very memorable Tuscan experience, not to mention the absolutely delicious food! As for La Veduta, as magical and charming a retreat as we had dreamed of. Totally surrounded by natural beauty and serenity yet so conveniently close to many of the sites we visited (Florence, Siena, Arezzo and our absolute favourite, that we discovered thanks to you …Cortona! A special mention for Vaz as well, what a gentle dog, we loved him. Time to say goodbye and hope to return again soon.”

Marlene & Bob, Montreal, Canada. October 2015

“Well, they say never go back. Whoever they are, when it comes to La Torre and La Veduta they couldn’t be more wrong. Having spent the second week of our honeymoon here last year, we simply couldn’t wait to come back again. As ever, Paul and Sandra have been the perfect hosts and the setting is just as magical as ever and Vaz made sure we were well stocked with tail wags. Two pieces of advice … get to the fantastic pizzeria in two (P & S know the way) and in Montepuciano, the Caffe Poliziana has a terrace with the most stunning views across the Val di Chiana. So it’s with great sadness that we have to leave this wonderful, wonderful place. We will be back!”

Alice & Simon, Whitley Bay, UK. September 2015

“Our sixth consecutive visit – so what else can we add having used up all our superlatives already? Well, firstly La Veduta is so giving and although there are so many things we enjoy year upon year, there are also so many more to enjoy. So in effect each year is improved upon. New places visited included San Quirico d’Orcia, Pienza, Gargonza, Cesenatico and old favourites – Cortona, Civitella, Anghiari and Arezzo of course. There can be no finer evening than enjoying a beautiful meal followed by a passagiata (evening stroll) up and down the Corso Italia. We have had so many lovely meals over the years but our steadfast favourites are the La Chiave d’Oro in the Piazza San Francesco and Paul and Sandra’s favourite pizza restaurant.- the best pizzas!! Finally La Torre itself is so calm and peaceful and we feel so lucky to spend our holidays here. See you next year!”

Karen & David. East Yorkshire, UK. August 2015

“Dear Sandra & Paul, Thank you for your hospitality. It was a great pleasure to stay in La Veduta and thank you so much for the welcome package, it was very thoughtful. It was not our first time in Tuscany, but we have enjoyed this stay enormously. We have visited a lot of lovely villages like Poppi, Anghiari,”Monte San Savino and Lucignano. It looks like time has been frozen in these villages. Unforgettable! And let’s not forget Vaz, what a lovely dog we have so enjoyed him. We wish you all the best with La Torre.”

Tilly & Louk, Amsterdam, Netherlands. July 2015

“Dear Sandra & Paul, Once again we have had a superb holiday. We always feel so rested here. The cookery course from Sandra was fantastic just the ‘therapy’ I needed. This is our sixth time here and hopefully we will be back. Sitting out in the evening and watching the fireflies is really magical, almost like fairyland. We will see you again.”

Robin & Jill, Yorkshire, UK. June 2015

“Disappointing!! – the fact that it has taken us so long to find this most tranquil and special place, made all the more so by Sandra and Paul, the perfect hosts. Lots of generous and thoughtful touches made our stay all the more enjoyable. Thank you.”

James & Jen, Surrey, UK. May 2015

“We loved every minute of our time here. We hiked to the top of the mountain. Went to gorgeous Anghiari, Cortona, Siena and Poppi. Sandra and Paul are wonderful hosts, so helpful in every way. We had just the best time.”

Paul & Cheri, San Francisco, USA. April 2015

After driving over 1500 miles from Richmond in North Yorkshire, UK it was a delight to be greeted by Sandra, Paul and of course Vaz. La “Veduta is indeed a restful haven situated amongst the cypresses and the olive trees. Such peace and quiet and a wonderful base for trips to the Tuscan hill towns. The history of the massacre of the villagers in Civitella was truly moving and a lesson the world is still learning. Florence and Siena and the frescoes here in Arezzo were all stunning, however, the smaller hill towns are in their own way just as impressive. Lastly the food and the wine! How can pasta taste so much better in Italy? Thank you Sandra and Paul for your hospitality and invaluable tips on car parking, trains and so much more..

Keith & Chris, Richmond, Yorks., UK, October 2014

‘Let’s go to Italy for our honeymoon’, we said a while back.. and after a week of enjoying the bustling delights of Rome and Florence all we wanted was a little piece of heaven where we could chill and just be. From the moment we drove through the gates to be greeted by Sandra and Paul we knew we had found the most perfect place to do just that. Now, after a week of the most delightful peace in the most stunning surroundings where we have done nothing but eat, drink the odd glass of wine and just be, sadly its time to leave this wonderful place. Thank you Sandra, Paul and our constant companion (especially at mealtimes) – the supreme and most delightful host, Vaz. We’re so sad to go but overjoyed that we’ll be back next year. So good health and happiness to you both until next September.

Alice & Sam, UK, September 2014

Dearest Sandra, Paul & Vaz think it says it all when I write - “it’s our fifth consecutive holiday here” – and “we’ll be back next year too!!” Our heaven on a Hill has once more delivered us a perfetto holiday. Grazie Mille!

Karen & David, Yorkshire, UK, August 2014

“What a great place to shake off the daily grind. La Veduta is perfectly equipped, it has everything you need. Lovely runs up the hill and only encountered the wild boars once. Kept my distance and was fine. Thanks go to Linda and Iain for the great maps (14.8.08) Very accurate! Sandra’s cooking course was fabulous and provided many meals enjoyed al fresco. Sandra and Paul have a little bit of heaven on a hillside; long may it bring them joy. Vaz was a star, a great dog that was a joy to have around (I am not a dog person!) Special memories. John.

Well, you read all the previous comments and think – ‘it can’t be true’ … yawn – but it is! Everything is true, nothing is too much trouble – forgotten umbrella – Here, take ours. Beach towels – likewise. And many other little considerations, that really give you that ‘everything is easy’ feeling. Loved the cooking course and John loved the well-equipped kitchen – so much so that he immediately declared, on arrival, that he was doing all the cooking for our holiday. He’s loved it, pottering about and I’ve love relaxing --- Win – Win ”

John & Carol, Muscat, Oman. July 2014

“What a wonderful week we have had! If, like me, you are reading this book on your first night at La Veduta – do the cooking course with Sandra. She is a great teacher, and it is just a lovely way to spend the day. Not only that, you will have food for Africa!!! I am impressed with Sandra’s and Paul’s knowledge and passion for the area. I don’t know where we would have ended up if it weren’t from some excellent recommendations. We loved Fattoria La Vialla, a must visit, if you ask me and I really enjoyed ‘taking the waters at Rapolana Terme. The peace and quiet after you have been at the other frenetic places you many have visited before is a sanctuary. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!!! .”

Sue & Mel, New Zealand. June 2014

“Sandra and Paul. La Torre is truly a special place. But if someone were to ask us what made it special, the answer would be Sandra and Paul. Thanks to Sandra for the wonderful cooking course, now our gnocchi will be ‘feather pillows’ and the ragu rich and cooked with patience. The last day excursion to Fattoria La Vialla was a perfect ending. And lastly tell Paul that Kathy thought Esselunga was paradise! Sandra we wish you and Paul and Vaz the very best. Stay Well..”

Charles & Kathy, California, USA, May 2014

“Dear Sandra, Paul and of course Vaz! Thank you for a most wonderful and extraordinary week of discoveries, from ice cream to orchids, and everything in between. (not forgetting Piero). This is the most beautiful place imaginable in, and from which to experience the delights of Tuscany – and all, of course, enhanced by your extraordinary kindness and hospitality. We couldn’t have loved it more! Yours affectionally…”

Sue & Herb, Newport, R.I., USA, April 2014

“Dear Sandra and Paul, It’s all been said and we can only add to the long list of guests who have been enchanted by their time at La Torre. We have loved our time here and it has been the highlight of our one-month stay in Italy. Your warmth, friendliness and generosity have enhanced our time here in La Veduta. Thank you so much for the pasta session that was such good fun! We hope to return or welcome you in our part of the world, and wish you peace and serenity in your special part of the world with many, many thanks.”

Helen & Graydon, Sydney, Australia, October 2013

“Our dear friends Sandra, Paul and Vaz. Thank you so very much for sharing your Tuscan heaven with us again this year. We’ve had a wonderful week, with lovely weather. We walked to the top of Mt. Lignano this time (fantastic views) but beware of taking the wrong turning back (we finished up in the National Park picnic area) but it was well worth the effort. Lovely meals at il Cantuccio, Logge Vasari, a great place overlooking the main square in Cortona, La Vialla farm and meals at La Veduta!! We’ve so appreciated the peace and restorative qualities of this special place, we return home to face new challenges.. Until the next visit --- grazie mille and our love.”

Carol & Ian, Surrey, UK, September 2013

“Our fourth consecutive visit! Having experienced a difficult year both professionally and personally we both knew that La Torre would help us to relax, reflect and repair!! We have visited old favourites, Cortona, Sansepolcro, lunch by Lake Trasimeno, the Arezzo market and one of our favourite places Civitella. New places include Gubbio and San Marino. We have climbed hills, swan lengths and fitted in a few runs all of which have helped to ease our consciences re: the wonderful Italian food, the wine, pasta, cheese and pizzas, which we have consumed heartily. All of the above are the ingredients of our wonderful holiday- but there are three more vital ingredients – Sandra, Paul and Vaz!! Thank you for the advice, tips, chats, herbs and most importantly the laughter. We return home much refreshed and positive! See you next year! With love and best wishes.”

Karen & David, Hull, UK, August 2013

“Our thanks to Sandra, Paul and Vaz for being such excellent hosts during our week here in this beautiful home. They helped us with a troublesome hire car and so much more. They are also truly lovely people – getting up at 5.45am just to say goodbye. For future guests our suggestions would be to visit – Cortona, Anghiari, Sansepolcro, Montepulciano and Siena. We had a lovely meal at Loggia Vasari in the Piazza Grande here in Arezzo. (ask Sandra to make your reservation) Esselunga is a great supermarket! Go to places early in the morning and then come back in good time to enjoy the pool – places get more crowded and hot in the afternoon. Enjoy!! (We certainly did) Best wishes from us both.”

Sally & Roger, Northants, UK, August 2013

“Dear Sandra and Paul, Thank you very much for our very enjoyable week in La Veduta. We are honoured to be the first guests in 10 years to have not gone anywhere all week!! Put simply, your attention to detail in every aspect was truly appreciated throughout the whole week. Thanks again, our belated honeymoon was just perfect. Kind Regards. ”

Sue & Ross, Devon, UK, July 2013

“What can we say!! Our third time here and yet again we have had a fantastic week at La Veduta. The care and attention to detail is second to none. It is lovely that you take time each day to check that we are OK and have everything we need, and the tips and advice you offer are always welcome as are the recipes!! Once again thank you very much for a fantastic week...”

Neil & Carol, West Yorkshire, UK, July 2013

“Dear Sandra & Paul, from the time we arrived you made us feel completely at ease. On entering the cottage to find a huge bowl of fruit and chilled prosecco waiting in the fridge was wonderful. You had a knack of catering for our individual needs – suggesting and booking restaurants and routes to get there, including sights along the way. La Veduta was perfect in every way, + the views from the terrace were superb. Not forgetting Vaz, a wonderful dog – what a star! We loved Arezzo. Our visit coincided with the jousting competition. Carol will never forget shaking hands with il Sindaco (mayor) at the rehearsal. She has not washer her hand since. A wonderful two weeks and we are coming again next year!”

Carol & Pete, Berks., UK, June 2013

“Dear Sandra, Paul and Vaz, Thank you so much for providing such an idyllic setting for our honeymoon. La Veduta is such a beautiful cottage – so cosy and comfortable and we both unwound very quickly after a very hectic period in our lives. The location couldn’t be more perfect for visiting the many lovely hilltop villages and Florence and Siena too. We so very much enjoyed our stay and look forward to planning our next trip to Toscana. All the very best..”

Laura & Mike, Toronto, Canada, May 2013

“Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality, La Veduta was the last week of our hectic 4 week stay in Italy. The first 3 weeks were on an art course, so we have made up for not getting to see the main sights this week. We did a day trip to Venice, yes it is possible, Rome, Siena, Florence and Cortona and Anghiari too. We thoroughly enjoyed the Giostra in the Piazza Grande and finally chilled during a wonderfully romantic dinner at Loggia Vasari in Arezzo. So again thanks for everything, especially your invaluable advice and suggestions to help us get the very best (and most) out of our trip.”

Metra & Nick, St. Louis, USA, April 2013

"Dear Sandra, Paul and Vaz. We had a lovely stay. The cottage is very comfortable and we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. We thank you for your warm welcome and efforts to make us feel at home and enjoy the best of our vacation. It was short but lovely. We will certainly recommend La Torre to our family and friends Thank you for such a wonderful place. .-) ."

Allie & Fabio, St. Louis, Missouri, USA October 2012

"Dear Sandra, Paul & lovable Vaz. We arrived exhausted after a frenetic week in France and a long drive from Nice; one week later we leave relaxed and very happy with our week in Tuscany. Your warm welcome and the lovely cold prosecco helped us to settle in very quickly. La Veduta is just perfect for two and we felt at home immediately. We loved our hill, especially in the morning when the valley was covered in mist, yet we were in the sunshine. We loved it when Vaz came to visit and also Sandra’s daily visits to check we were ok. All your helpful suggestions and recommendations proved to be just perfect for us and we thankyou. We will carry home with us some beautiful memories of our time here and will certainly tell our friends where to find the perfect holiday home in Italy. Grazie Mille."

Silvie & Peter, Sydney, Australia September 2012

"Our fourth stay here at La Torre – and as always we leave here completely refreshed. We’ve found a couple more lovely places to eat at and you notice Paul we did actually manage to get ourselves out of the grounds this time. There is nothing to add that has not been said in previous pages – by others and ourselves - a big, big thank you to you both and of course, Vaz!"

Christine & Cliff, Oxford UK August 2012

"Many thanks Sandra, Paul and Vaz! You’ve given us a wonderful week of relaxation and pleasure. Alla prossima volta."

Mick & Kate, Sydney, Australia July 2012

"Dear Sandra, Paul & Vaz. Thank you for a wonderful week in La Veduta, everything is so relaxing and beautiful. The cottage is lovely and we haven’t wanted for anything especially with Sandra’s knowledge and directions to help us. This was an amazing follow up to three days in very busy Florence. We both feel very relaxed and not really wanting to return to ‘normal life’ but 2012 is a year of change for us – we’ve visited Italy for the first time and fallen in love with this area – we are already planning our return visit. Thank you Sandra and Paul for your care and attention to detail and Vaz for his humour!"

Carol & Ian. Surrey, UK June 2012

"What more can be said about this beautiful cottage, La Veduta, that has not already been said. Sandra, your guidance, enthusiasm, maps, brochures and most of all your care for our safe return each day was invaluable. We estimated that we covered over 1500 kms. In our 2 week stay. The ancient towns of Anghiari (or Angry Harry as I would call it) and Poppi were some of our best day trips. We highly recommended the cooking class where Sandra taught us how to prepare true Tuscan meals. After more than 4 hours of dicing and stirring, and kneading, rolling, cutting and hanging the pasta the limoncello was a welcome reward! The meals we enjoyed over the next few days were delicious! Finally, thanks to Paul and Vaz for checking in on us when Sandra was in London, we enjoyed your company and conversations very much. We will miss Vaz’s wagging tail! This was the first time we have tried an owners’ rental but from the first email to our goodbyes at the end of our second week we felt secure. So again thanks for everything."

Dave & Mary, Nova Scotia, Canada May 2012

"Sublime x 10². A honeymoon to remember even though we brought the Scottish weather for the first day A big Thank You to Sandra and Paul for soothing two very stressed and frazzled travelers. We will not forget your kindness or your generosity of spirit. Hugs to Vaz for making us feel at home with his daily check-ins! He must be the waggiest dog in Italy .-)."

Susie & Guy, Dunfermline, Scotland April 2012

"Sandra & Paul, Thank you so much for your hospitality over the past week, how we wish it had been for longer! You have made our first trip to Italy a more memorable one. The time and attention you give to both the accommodation and guests really shines through!!! Your suggestions regarding restaurants, places to visit, places to park etc. were all spot on!!! Thanks!!!The cooking course was amazing and we look forward to trying all the new recipes when we get home. This was a wonderful home base for us and we loved exploring the surrounding areas and it was so easy to get to all the places we wanted to visit - Florence, Chianti, Siena, Rome and even well-placed for the next part of our trip Venice. We hope to be back soon, and thanks again."

Lisa & Chris, Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada October 2011

"What can we say, our fourth time here and again we have had a wonderful holiday here in La Veduta, it really is so good to come back and we enjoy it more with every visit. It is just beautiful and peaceful after a day sightseeing. Thank you Sandra and Paul (and Vaz) for making our holiday just perfect with your hospitality and kindness. We always look forward to all the 'goodies' that we find on arrival. This year we visited Orvieto and Urbino and both are worth a visit when you have seen many of the nearby highlights. We will be back!!! With our very warm wishes"

Robin & Jill, Middlewich, Cheshire, UK September 2011

"Our second visit to La Torre, we were here in 2010 also! Our first visit: delayed flight, arriving late at night, raining, what had we come to? At the top of the road, Sandra with her torch and warm welcome. The next day - sunshine and paradise! A easier, more pleasant arrival this time and another warm welcome from our most charming hosts Sandra & Paul and Vaz! Guidance and all the little extras we found on arrival have once again made for a truly perfect holiday. See you in 2012! Many, many thanks for once again providing us with a perfect holiday. Heaven on a Hill!"

Karen & David, UK August 2011

"Thank you so much for our peaceful and serene stay at La Torre, It is so beautiful here. A few of our highlights were an excellent dinner at Sottolemura in Arezzo (with Paul's advice) , we were amazed to discover that we were the only non-Italians there - perfect! Also the French abbey, south of Montalcino, it was fantastic to hear the monks chant. We also thoroughly enjoyed the cooking course, we ate well for days! Our friends are in for such a surprise when we put on our first dinner party together - we will show off all the new dishes we have learnt. Our last day was great and Chianti was beautiful, just like all the other places we visited - Cortona, Anghiari, Siena, we didn't get to see everything but I am sure they will be there when we come back."

Carl & Claire, London, UK July 2011

"Jim and I have enjoyed spending a week of our 30th anniversary vacation here in La Veduta and in the Tuscany region. The weather has been wonderful everyday! "Cooking for Two" with Sandra was a highlight for us, we learned how to chop vegetables correctly (yes, even after 30 years there's more to learn), we made so much including fresh pasta, pesto, a fantastic salsicce ragu and the most tasty sweet salami. We also relaxed by the pool, when we weren't busy sightseeing. Our favorite day trips were Cortona and Radda, where we visited Ceramiche Rimpini and bought a beautiful pasta bowl, which I will use when I make fresh pasta at home. We feel we have been one with nature with our stay in La Veduta, the bird song and the fireflies. Vaz was a welcome sight every morning with his non-stop wagging tail. Best regards to you both and again thank you."

Jim and Lou Ann. St. Louise, MS, USA June 2011

"Dear Sandra & Paul, We have had such a wonderful time here in La Veduta. The beautiful place & setting will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you both so much for your warmth and kind hospitality! We will recommend this place to all our friends and family! (or just maybe keep it our secret!) With love from your most 'chilled out' guests. " "fino a quando ci incontreremo di nuovo"

Teresa & Terry. Suffolk, UK May 2011

"Dear Sandra & Paul, There is little we can add to the glowing comments of those who have preceeded us as guests of La Veduta, other than: We are not honeymooners and this is not our first visit, but our fourth two week stay in the Tuscany-Umbria area. And, La Veduta is the lovelieest and finest accommodation of them all! We have loved relaxing and dining on the terrace, becoming friends with Vaz + Sergio and day trips to Poppi, Cortona, Anghiari etc. Plus shopping at the Saturday market in Arezzo. Our cooking class with Sandra was amazing and the delicious dinners that followed were a highlight of our stay. Grazie mille to our warm and most helpful hosts. ."

Linda & Jim, Orinda, California, USA April 2011

"Dear Sandra & Paul, Again we have had a wonderful week at La Veduta. The surroundings are so beautiful and there are so many interesting places to visit. And, it always felt really good to return and to drive up from Bagnoro to "our" cosy home. Thank you for providing such a welcoming place and for all the thoughtful preparations that made us feel at home - we enjoyed everything! This relaxing week was just what we needed after a stressful time. Thanks again and our best wishes to both of you. We hope we will be able to return again soon."

Hiltrud & Henning, Hamburg, Germany. October 2010

La Veduta is the perfect place to feel at home and explore Tuscany. The personal touches really make it a perfect home from home. We thoroughly enjoyed our cooking course in the Tower with Sandra making some real delicious dishes, which we will recreate with pleasure and memories at home. A big thanks to Paul for cracking the walnuts early that morning (for the walnut sauce) and a bigger thanks to Vaz for his patience in waiting for his morning constitution walk. Appreciation also to Paul for getting us back on the road again after the flat tyre! Highlights of our trip were Cortona, Anghiari, Siena, Poppi, Monteriggioni, climbing the Duomo in Firenze (phew!) and seeing the open air museum, that is Rome. May the next 7 years bring you the same pleasure and more, as the last 7 have. Again many thanks….

Sara & Jon, Long Melford, UK. September 2010

“We cannot imagine a more beautiful, precious and welcoming place to have celebrated our anniversary than with our trip to Italy and La Torre. To have made it in the dark from Milan (our plane was late....) driving through 32 tunnels and mountain roads to have found you here on the road with your flashlight - and a smile - and a chilled bottle of prosecco in the fridge - was the essence of hospitality. Of the many memorable trips you commended to us - the injunction not to miss the Holy Hermitage at Camoldoli was wise indeed. The drive up the Eremo through the huge pine forests and passed the rushing streams was incredibly beautiful - and the Eremo itself was inspiring. Continue flourishing in your great adventure... and you're both very very welcome in Boston any time!!”

Timi & John, Boston, USA. September 2010

“Thank you so much Sandra and Paul for sharing your wonderful home. The cottage was absolutely perfect and more...! The welcoming gifts from the fruit, wine, chocs etc. made the time extral special. Vaz too, added to our stay with the smile he brought every time he came up to visit. With our unexpected car situation came up - you said you'd make it work and you surely did...Thanks for all the cheerful and helpful rides down and on one very welcome occasion UP the hill!! ”

Christine & Barry, Calgary, Canada. August 2010

“Thank you so much for having us here to share your beautiful home and gardens. It has been the most perfect setting for our honeymoon. The tranquility and peacefulness were just what we were looking for. We have loved our romantic dinners together in the beautiful cottage, soaking up the evening sunshine and enjoying each other's company. We LOVED the cooking course, what a fantastic day, we can't wait to go home and try out all the new recipes - we'll have an Italian evening for our friends. Thank you for making it so memorable and hopefully we'll be back for our anniversay :-)!”

Leesa & Aziz, Dubai, UAE. July 2010

“Dear Sandra, Paul and Vaz. La Veduta felt like home as soon as we walked in. Your website picutres do not do it justice. The charm and attention to detail is exceptional - and your added touches, the rose, the chocolates, prosecco etc. were great. This was our thrid trip to Tuscany we will be back - here! The locaction has great access ... visited Greve, Montalcino, Siena, Florence and Cetona and had the opportunity to visit the antiques fair in Arezzo. Truly a great time,.. you have created a magical place. ps. Emily was never one for dogs but she has fallen in love with Vaz. Thanks for everything. ”

Emily & Bruce, New York, USA. June 2010

“When we were planning our trip to Italy, our son and daughter-in-law (Tim & Jen, page 3) suggested we spend a week at La Veduta. We are so pleased we did! We have really enjoyed our week here "Under the Tuscan Sun" and the occasional liquid Tuscan sun!! After our day trips exploring the beautiful countryside, we loved to return "home" for a relaxing glass or two of vino in the peaceful garden setting. "Ottimo!!" Wonderful memories to take home to Australia."

Mary & Mike, Brisbane, Australia. May 2010

“We have spent the first week of our honeymoon here and it has been fantastic, wonderful views, weather, food and of course the hospitality of you all (including Vaz!) We have visited Florence,Volterra and Arezzo but we have loved nothing more than just sitting backand relaxing in your beautiful grounds with a nice glass of prosecco or two! For a lovely meal out in Arezzo we recommend 'il Saracino' on via Mazzini just off Corso Italia. We hope to return in the future as there is so much we still want to see. Again many thanks and best wishes."

Leanne & Dan, Cheshire, England. April 2010

“We've had a wonderful time in your lovely house and greatly enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. Everything was so well prepared for our arrival - your advice and suggestions (and the folder!) were very helpful. Thank you again very much for everything. We hope to return soon Best wishes.”

Hiltrud & Henning, Hamburg, Germany. October 2009

“What can we say? La Veduta is even better than we had hoped for and the setting is incredible. The cottage is lovely and the pictures do not do it justice. It's not only a romantic, comfortable villa, it also has all the conveniences required for cooking etc. We loved coming back after each day's touring to the peace and tranquility of our home away from home. Your advice and suggestions were so helpful and brought us to places we would not have found on our own. Our cooking class was great fun as well as a great learning experience, not to mention - delicious! Thank you for everything, hopefully we will be back some day."

Harry & Sandra, Prince Edward Island, Canada. September 2009

“Our second time - two weeks this time! We have had a fantastic holiday, the first few days recharging the batteries was needed. You have created a beautiful environment and thank you for sharing it with us.”

Michael & Jo, Cheshire, England. August 2009

“Thank you for helping to make the second week of our honeymoon so special. La Torre is a beautiful and relaxing retreat (it has been just what we needed), The little touches of fruit, beautiful treats + chilled prosecco were all very thoughtful and enjoyed!! The weather has been wonderful and La Veduta is lovely and cool during the midday sun. We had some visits from Vaz who kept us amused with his funny ways. Our first holiday in Italy has been very memorable and we absolutely love the culture, history, food, wine, hospitality and the weather. We particularly enjoyed spending time in Florence, Arezzo, Cortona and a trip to Chianti (including a visit to a winery) was very interesting (I have never seen wine barrels so huge before!) We will definitely be returning to Italy and thank you again for a wonderful week. "

Charlotte & Imre, Worfield, UK. July 2009

“ A third great stay at La Torre in three years! As always Sandra & Paul made us very welcome. After a day of rain when we arrived we had perfect weather, managed to swim most days and had several good walks. I explored the many footpaths on the map and some that aren't and have left two tracks for walks on Sandra's memory stick - one of 15 km. and the other of 9km. The latter I photographed all the junctions - so if you want to do the walks just ask Sandra for the route. Two weeks goes by much too quickly - got to Cortona, Assisi and San Gimignano and loved Poppi and now all too soon we are setting off for home. For anyone driving down from the UK,the route through Germany is much the best. So Sandra, Paul and Vaz thanks once again for having us as neighbours. Hope to see you again soon."

Jill & Robin, Cheshire, UK. June 2009

“This week has been perfect! Even with our hectic schedule of wanting to see everything we could, this has been an incredibly relaxing week. Your insights and recommendations has been great. I know we both thoroughly enjoyed our cooking course and take home lots of new skills and ideas to try out in our own kitchen. I couldn't keep Steve out of the pool!!! Thank you so much for sharing your slice of heaven with us. We hope to be back."

Julie & Steve, London, Ontario, Canada. June 2009

“This has been the best surprise honeymoon ever! David booked it and we spent five days in Venice and then a week here. This place is perfect, and we have been so lucky with all the sunny days. Went to Arezzo, Siena, Cortona,Florence and Assisi - our favourite place was definitely Cortona - don't miss it. We had a wonderful lunch there at Osteria del Teatro, a couple of streets from the main square - highly recommended. We also enjoyed walking up the mountain here, quite a climb but worth it for the views from the top. This has been our first taste of Italy together, and we will definitely be back for more, hopefully returning to La Torre one day. Thank you Sandra and Paul for such a warm welcome and real thoughtfulness about the little touches that make a holiday even more special. Particularly the arrival supper, Prosecco and fig jam. And for sharing Vaz! Best wishes"

Alice & David, Suffolk, UK. May 2009

“Dear Sandra and Paul, Thank you so much for the warmth of your welcome which certainly matched the Tuscan Sun! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and welcome you to visit us in California. We would love to be able to return your gracious hospitality. Thanks for everything, including finding UPS!! I'll let you know if the platter gets back safely! Warmest Regards."

Linda & Roger, California, USA. April 2009

“We've loved the week we spent here in La Veduta, but it just went by too quickly. The weather was perfect and we had perfect days to travel to just a few of the many beautiful hill towns nearby. A highlight of the week? Well for us, it was the cooking course - so much learnt and so many wonderful foods to eat. We didn't have to cook or eat out for a couple of days! You have a beautiful property. Thank you for your hospitality and we hope one day to visit again."

I just got back to the office and wanted to send a note to thank you, once again, for helping to make our 2008 vacation such a huge success. Your property is amazing and I have passed this information on to the person who, I understand, is hoping to book with you in the near future. I just feel so lucky to have stumbled upon your web site. I hope you have a great vacation in Barcelona and I also hope that next year brings you many new and friendly guests. I plan to make your special tomato sauce this weekend and I hope it turns out as good as it did with your help. I am still smiling Sandra. The vacation really worked. Hope all is well with you and Paul and Vaz of course. Laurie (email)

Laurie & Michael, Hamilton, Canada. October 2008

“Thank you so much for sharing your Tuscan dream with us. Everything was perfect from exploring the garden and your house to travels further afield. Tuscany was all we had hoped for and more. Your advice on places to visit was 'spot on' - Poppi, Stia, Anghiari, Cortona were all a picture and so crammed full of history I've realised that we need more memory cards for the camera!! La Celle, just behind Cortona was a perfect end to our visit and a place I would recommend to anyone who reads this. Please also visit Gargonza - you won't regret it!" We head back to London fully relaxed thanks to you both and of course Vaz. We'll be Back!"

Scott & Viv, London, UK. October 2008

“Our second week here, the first in lovely il Bacio and now in La Veduta. What is there to be said that has not already said before ?? - hospitality above & beyond; Vaz as walk and playmate - the best dog ever; the setting, view and cottage - gorgeous; the advice, intuition, suggestions and counselling - Sandra and Paul know this land like natives, not recent emigrées; the little extras - bacio chocolates, Proscecco, home made jams, the surprise Vin Santo and cantucci from the cooking class; the countryside and all its tiny to fullsize towns, all worth rambling around in as well as its restaurants and good fresh foods. Favourites - Anghiari & San Sepolcro, Poppi & Stia, Monte San Savino, Cortona, Arezzo. Thank you for it all, We will bring it all home in our hearts. All best wishes."

Just a follow-up note to you all, Sandra, Paul and Vazzie-you three are a great team example of how to do it right-we absolutely cannot imagine that it was just a WEEK today that we left Italy. On the one hand we are still high from the whole experience, and on the other hand it seems like so long ago and we have to grasp at the memories. Thank you and thank you again, We are so in love with the region that we are already trying to figure out when we can work it in for a follow-up.(email)

Roz & Rob, Toronto,Canada. September 2008

“Once again we have had a superb holiday! With your advice we have been able to exlore the region further. The trattoria at Stia was wonderful, excellent Tuscan food at amazingly low prices. We visited Assisi which was breathtaking and surprisingly easy to get to. We still have many more places to see and visit so we shall be back again next year. Thank you again for your hospitality during our stay at La Veduta, not to leave out Vaz as he was great company in the mornings and evenings. PS from Robin: In a country where breathtaking views and art are everywhere I found the baptistery doors at the Duomo in Florence were outstanding; since we were last in Florence they have been cleaned and polished and look just like gold, they are worth the trip to Florence just to see them. Entry into the castle at Poppi is another outstanding moment - it was worth the trip just to see the fabulous staircase again. See you next year!!"

Robin & Jill, Cheshire,UK. September 2008

“It is hard to accept that we have to leave this charming cottage where we have been made to feel so much at home by Sandra and Paul, who have been such generous and considerate hosts. Vaz was also kind enough to take us for a walk in his woods but our stamina gave out before his. Our favourite restaurants have been Roggi's at Castiglion Fiorentino (for value and views over the roof tops and hills beyond), L'Anticana Cantina in Poppi (for a sophisticated and well presented meal in a lovely old town cellar setting).” Loggia Vasari in Arezzo over-looking the Piazza Grande and the Osteria da Luchino in Via Becharria, Arezzo. But there will many many more which a week has not been long enough to discover. It will be no hardship to come back to such a superb, comfortable and well equipped place as La Veduta, especially because Sandra and Paul have created a gem which we have been privileged to share for all too short a time."

Madelyne & Chris, Dorset,UK. August 2008

“We're going. I can't believe I won't be opening the door onto the terrace in the morning to breathe in the fresh air and watch the sun rise. We have had a fabulous time here and its all down to Sandra and Paul. All the hard work and effort you have put into La Torre has made it a magical place to stay. We will miss you and La Torre very much. We can't believe how very helpful, kind and generous you have been in making our 40th birthday holiday that more special and we much appreciate it. Below we have listed some of our favourite things from our holiday - they are not in any rank order... Dinner at 'Mad Woman's - the ravioli - the best ever, Massages and facials at the Spa, The delicious homemade fig jam, Vaz and his many tricks, The gorgeous chilled Prosecco on arrival, the secret fifth floor cafe overlooking the Duomo in Florence, the breathtaking Piazza del Campo in Siena, Cortona, Civitella and of course, Arezzo. Thank you again for all those very thoughtful, very special touches for us at La Veduta. Again thank you so much.

Jenny & Sandy, Yorkshire, UK. August 2008

“Thank you for sharing this beautiful Tuscan oasis of comfort and calm. We have enjoyed all the charming details and amenities of La Torre. Each morning enjoyed opening wide the shutters and front door, enjoying the cheerful geraniums, the lush gardens, fresh air and a great cup of coffee. Vas was such fun to take on long walks in the ‘forest’. We have nearly finished the towering bowl of fruit that was provided - delicious, and the bottle of prosecco was the best I have ever had. Also found that the terrace was perfect for dancing under the stars at night! Congratulations on making La Torre a dream come true.”

Tod & Susan, Los Altos, California USA. July 2008

“Thank you for being the perfect hosts and letting us share this special place for two weeks, the attention to detail in La Veduta is second to none, making it feel like a home from home. Your information and guidance have been invaluable, with nothing too much trouble. Everything has been perfect for the totally relaxing holiday that we had planned from the warmth of your welcome on our arrival to the glorious sunshine every day. The daily visits from Vaz were most welcome and he has the waggiest tail that we have ever seen. Wishing you love, luck and many many thanks.”

Andy & Alison, Yorkshire, UK. July 2008

“Dear Sandra, Paul and of course, Vaz. What an amazing two weeks in Tuscany and here at La Torre. Enjoyed, it not being too hot (we are from Arizona !!), it made it much easier to walk the incredible streets and museums of all the places we visited. il Bacio for our first week and La Veduta for our second were greatly welcomed retreats after days out in Siena, Assisi, Cortona, Rome, Florence to name a few! The overnight excursion to Cinque Terre was fabulous and your restaurant and accommodations were perfect. I felt as though our day trip adventures were complete by 'coming home'! The birds, the gardens - Molte Belle! The cooking class was really great fun and the results - our lovely lunch together really got our holiday off to a fantastic start. Best wishes and very warm thanks, We hope to return soon. ps. We can also attest to Vaz's special ability to hold five toys at once (I checked!) .”

Lisa & Tim, Arizona, USA. June 2008

“We have had wonderful dawn choruses every day - misty valleys and blue sky breakfasts. Loads of outings to the the sights and to shop the shops!! Lovely local walks to keep trim after our meals out or here in the garden. Great fun and very relaxing, Just what we needed. Thank you and Best Your mandarin marmalade is wonderful, thanks.”

Richard and Lila, Hertfordshire, UK. June2008

“Dear Sandra and Paul, Thank you for helping make our honeymoon in Tuscany so special. From the warm welcome and thoughtful 'extras' to your adundant local knowledge a and excellent directions. It has all helped us enjoy a wonderful week at La Torre. After initially being a little aloof, Vaz has become a great friend, Perhaps the slices of Tuscan sausage helped him to change his mind about us. We hope to be back one day!”

Sarah & Luke, Wiltshire, UK May2008

“We have loved touring Toscana, it is a magnificent part of the world, if not heaven! However, the best part of the day has been coming "home". Thank you for making our stay so comfortable. We are so impressed and grateful for all the little extras that were totally unexpected. Many thanks also for tracking down the missing golf clubs (thanks BA!). Your knowledge and generous advice helped to make this a time we'll never forget.”

John & Juliana. Geelong, Australia. May2008

“We've had the most blissful and relaxing week in La Veduta. What a beautiful and comfortable place it is - we have loved our stay here - The perfect place to relax before the baby arrives! The position and garden at La Torre are perfect - so peaceful and yet only 10 moins. from Arezzo centre. Thank you for all your help and tips - it's great to get personal recommendations and not be permanently tied to the guide book following the tourist trail. We'd love to come back!”

Charlotte and Ned. London, UK. April 2008

“Our memories of our first trip to Europe are enhanced by the comfort and peacefulness we experienced at La Torre. Our hike rewarded us with a wonderful view from the top of the mountain that stretched for more than 50 miles. That along with the night view of Arezzo could never be successfully photographed, but they will be memories we will cherish for ever. Our thanks to you both for sharing your dream and the beauty of your haven. Best wishes for a beautiful future on your mountain! With heartfelt thanks.”

Ed & Marilyn. Excelsior Springs, Missouri, USA. April 2008

“I was anxious to return ‘home’ today to write something in the guestbook which would attempt to capture the wonderful experience we have had, not only in La Veduta, but also with you and Paul (oh, and I can't forget Vaz, what a cutie). The cottage was even cuter than I had imagined, the photos on the website were wonderful but the fact that every last detail was taken care of made it really stand out from other (VRBO) rentals. In fact, it seemed very much as if we were visiting old friends, and felt at home right away. A large part of our experience was having you and Paul share your excitement and enthusiasm about what this area had to offer and your eagerness to explore it as well was inspiring. The tips you had on places to go and things to see were priceless, we wouldn't have found such gems in any guidebook or on any website. This is a trip we will be telling all our friends and family about and recommending everyone visit La Torre. Your hospitality was very comforting to a couple of first-timers to Italy and because of that, we are not wondering if we will return but when…”

Katie & Brad. Denver, Colorado, USA. October 2007

“We have had many wonderful holidays in Tuscany but our holiday at La Torre was made even more special by a) the wonderful meal on arrival and b) the very informative but fun cooking course. It was so relaxed but we still learnt how to make several Italian dishes including perfect pasta sauces. Thank you Sandra, Paul and Vaz for making our holiday memorable and sharing your wonderful home with us. We hope to return soon.”

Ian & Shirley. Durham, England. September 2007

“We have had a wonderful, relaxing week, just what the doctor ordered! An absolutely beautiful location and wonderful hosts. Thank you Sandra and Paul for all your tips and info on the area, especially where to park! We shall miss our morning visits from Vaz, our evening visits too – we really enjoyed his company. I never look forward to writing in the guest book as it means our time here is over. You have a wonderful home and we are so glad to have shared some time with you. We will return to Tuscany and La Torre soon - our favourite place to be – Thank you again.”

Carole & Stewart. Kent, England. September 2007

“Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. La Veduta was the most wonderful place for us to spend the second week of our honeymoon – the views are very special and La Veduta is so pretty. Thank you for your warmth, hospitality and guidance – thoughtful touches abound – maps, guides, basil and other herbs for cooking and even ‘hidden chocolates’ – bliss. Vaz is just the most handsome dog and his tail-wagging visits were a delight!”

Adam & Jo. Leicestershire, UK. August 2007

“We have read all the previous entries and feel that there is little to add! Our middle honeymoon week has been perfect – just what we both needed. Your obvious love for La Torre is evident in what you have achieved here – an idyllic retreat. Vaz is a joy! We enjoyed his visits. All in all, we’ve had a wonderful, restful and peaceful week. We will see you again soon and let all our friends know how truly different this holiday retreat is.”

Al & Debbie. Yorkshire, UK. August 2007

“What a wonderful holiday! La Veduta was everything we wished for, very comfortable and amid such natural beauty. Thank you both for your useful tips (What to see and what restaurants to visit). Tuscany is certainly a wonderful area the scenery outstanding, breathtaking at times. It was also great to have Vaz’s company from time to time. Thank you both again for helping to make our holiday perfect. We’re coming back next year!”

Robin & Jill. Cheshire, UK. July 2007

“We arrived a week after our wedding having spent 4 hectic but enjoyable days in Florence and Siena. On our drive over we wondered what La Torre would be like – it has more than exceeded our expectations! Perfectly remote, (yet close enough to civilization when needed!) stunning views and a lovely cottage set in beautiful gardens. A perfect honeymoon getaway! Thank you both for your hospitality and coming to find us when we were lost. Looking forward to telling all our friends about La Torre and hopefully coming back in the not too distant future.”

Charles & Jo. Bristol, UK. July 2007

"Dear, Sandra, Paul …. And Vaz… What a week! We have loved it here – so quiet and relaxing, it’s been just the break we needed. A perfect honeymoon! Starry nights watching the fireflies and hot days by the pool and such good company, Vaz! Thank you all so very much. We’ll miss it!"

Isabel & Steve. Sussex, UK. June 2007

"Thank you Sandra and Paul for a truly wonderful relaxing week in this beautiful spot. As special thanks too, to Vaz, for his delightful companionship."

Caroline & Paul. London, UK. June 2007

"Thank you for everything. We have had a wonderful second honeymoon and will never forget all of our day trips, hikes and outings. We loved the wine from Villa Cilnia and your olive oil. Vaz was wonderful and he made us feel so much at home. If you are ever in Hawaii we’d love to have you visit. Love and Aloha from the North Shore."

Nicole & Andi. Hawaii, USA. June 2007

"Thank you Sandra & Paul for sharing your home with us. We have had a wonderful time – our first visit to Tuscany and a memorable one, mainly due to the time spent here in the wonderful garden with the spectacular views. Thank you!"

Julie & Mark. Wales. May 2007

"Thank you for helping us make our honeymoon so special and our stay at La Torre one we will remember forever. We have eaten some wonderful food at the restaurants you recommended to us. La Veduta and its setting and views are amazing and your hospitality made us feel at home. Phil has specially enjoyed cycling up the hill on several occasions and ‘accidently’ cycling up Alpe di Poti is something we wont forget. Thanks once again. Ps. Thanks Vaz for your visits to La Veduta!"

Sarah & Phil, Oxford, UK. May 2007

"Thank you for making us feel so welcome at La Torre. It’s been a great place to spend our honeymoon. We’ve had a fabulous time but yet feel like we’ve only scratched the surface. There’s so much to see and do here and we’ve really appreciated your local advice. We already thinking of coming back again next year so maybe if we get into training now we’ll manage the hill on our bikes!!! Thanks again."

Fiona & Al. Stirling, Scotland. May 2007

"Thank you for introducing us to the delights of Italy. We have completely fallen in love with Tuscany, Arezzo and of course, La Torre – a great place for us to escape to after a very stressful year or so. We intend returning in the not too distant future to continue exploring the area and enjoy the Italian delicacies once more. Hopefully, next time, we’ll be more fluent in Italian..... Thank you."

Barry & Sonia, Cheshire, UK. April 2007

"We have truly enjoyed our stay here at La Torre. In fact we were hoping you and Paul would adopt us. Monday we go back to work. Rrrrrrrgh. While we both really enjoy our jobs, we can't help but wish we were still in Italy strolling the narrow streets, eating gelato and drinking vino rosso della casa (not all at the same time of course). We just can't say enough about our stay with you and Paul at La Torre. We received our wedding photos this week as well as downloaded many of the ones we took in Arezzo. We showed these photos in a slide presentation at today's party. Everyone just loved it.
Because we planned our trip solely through research on the internet and relied on the feedback from others, if you ever want to use us as a reference, we would be more than happy to give a glowing recommendation. Booking stays over the internet can be scary for some.

Chris & Heather, Florida, USA. April 2007

"Thank you for your wonderful hospitality , we have truly enjoyed our two week stay here at La Torre. The weather was perfect! Thank you for making our vacation so memorable.
With love and thanks."

Joe & Kathleen, Cooperstown, NY, USA. April 2007

"We arrived with great anticipation for our stay in the pretty cottage we had spotted on the web. The setting, the gorgeous weather, our wonderful hosts and our new canine buddy far surpassed our expectations. One of the many surprises we enjoyed during our visit here was the hiking. We had great hiking weather and saw some wonderful scenery. There are some lovely walking routes right outside the door. We will miss this place ... and Vaz...and hope to return soon."

Jen & Nick. Oakland, California. USA. October 2006

"From the first moment of arriving Sandra and Paul made us very welcome - not forgetting Vaz. La Veduta is most enchanting, set in beautiful surroundings with stunning views. Our Tuscan supper was delicious and Sandra and Paul have gone to great lengths to attend to every little detail to make our stay enjoyable. They have been very helpful with local information, on history and interesting places to visit. This is truly a tranquil setting to relax and unwind. We hope we shall be able to return. Many thanks."

Clelia & Dave, Berkshire, UK September 2006

"Two beautiful sunny weeks at La Torre has been the perfect way to celebrate and begin my retirement. We have enjoyed our stay with you and want to thank you for your helpful hints and generous hospitality. We will always look back on this holiday with very fond memories. You have done a wonderful job restoring your cottages and making them a comfortable, relaxing get-away in fabulous Tuscany. With love and many thanks."

Liz & Tim, New York State, USA. September 2006

"Michael and I found this a perfect place for our vacation. The holiday was lovely - we were so comfortable and your hospitality was wonderful - from the delicious arrival dinner to your advice on how to proceed on the next part of our trip and everything in between. We would never have found La Celle, Anghiari or Civitella had you not suggested them and they are the highlights of the trip. Michael also enjoyed the "cooking with truffles" lesson. Thank you so much - we definitely want to return. With warmest affection. p.s. Vaz is wonderful."

Shirley & Michael, San Francisco. USA. September 2006

"From the moment Mum and Dad returned from their first trip to La Torre Ashley and we haven't heard the end of how wonderful and idyllic it was - it only took us two years to make the trip to experience and fully appreciate their words of praise. All four of us can't deny the hospitable environment, the stunning location and the simply relaxed and chilled-out ambience that La Torre exudes upon arrival - it truly is the embodiment of a perfect Tuscan retreat…."

Ashley, Sian, Jacquie and Brett, Scotland and Dubai. August 2006

"Thank you for sharing this paradise with us. You prepared everything so well for us that we immediately felt free to relax and calm. Thank you also for sharing Vasco - he's wonderful! Thank you again for this wonderful perfect holiday.
p.s. Sandra! The pasta from the 'old nonna' was as delicious as you promised!

Bernadette and Oliver, Frankfurt, Germany. August 2006

What a wonderful place - we are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and this week in the middle of our holiday has been heaven. This is a magical place and we will certainly be back. Thanks for your welcome and care of us - we feel like friends not guests. A wonderful week in a special place.

George & Sally, Santa Barbara, California. USA June 2006

We feel priviledged to have had a week to enjoy the beautiful and historic surroundings that you call home. The cottage was perfect for the two of us. We loved the walks in the hills and coming home to a friendly, wagging tail (Vaz!) and all your guidance on our forays around the area. The church in Bagnoro was a very pleasant surprise and should not be missed. Thanks for all your hospitality.

Sue & Ron, Calgary, Canada. June 2006

A perfect introduction to Italy for both of us - so nice to have a first-class lovely house to stay in as a home base as we took off on our daily adventure of learning a bit about this wonderful country. You have taken care to make the cottage feel like home - even providing us with a part-time pet. From Saturday to Saturday it could not have been more perfect - the firefly lightshow on our last night was a fitting farewell to La Torre. We will definitely recommend you to our friends in the US. Thank you.

Maggie & Harry, Michigan, USA June 2006

La Torre was the perfect way for us to spend our second week of vacation in Italy. We were immediately impressed with everything around La Torre and felt very lucky to have been here while the Giostra took place and see 'our' quarter win! We truly appreciated your wonderful suggestions for visits, discovering the outlet stores, attending the Bagnoro cherry festival and the local winery Villa Cilnia. After each daily adventure we looked forward to returning to the fabulous pool to relax and cool off from the afternoon sun. We had memorable evenings sipping wine under the Big Dipper which the fireflies flickered about the Tuscan landscape. We feel privileged to have discovered and vacationed on an historic Tuscan site - your passion for La Torre is evident and thank you again for sharing a piece of your dream with us.

Jerome & Meaghan, Chicago. USA June 2006

A stunning location from which to explore the key and several hidden historical towns, together with the beautiful surrounding countryside - a real find… Spring allowed us to see La Torre and Tuscany at her best (possibly?). La Veduta is superb and the best that we have come across in all our travelling - a new benchmark those others will have difficulty meeting.
Thanks for your kind hospitality

Fiona & Richard, Sydney, Australia. May 2006

This is getting to be a habit!
Third visit in less than a year… and each time we find something new and something the same. Sandra and Paul as welcoming as ever and this time we saw the hoopoos, heard the cuckoos and watched the irises unfurl outside our window. Lucky, lucky people who have their time at La Torre to look forward to!
See you again soon!!

Ann & Dave, Bucks., UK. May 2006

Finally we stumbled across a place that delivered everything it promised… and more. La Torre was everything we could have asked for; quiet and serene, comfortable and homely. In a spectacular location yet located within easy distance of the best Tuscany and Umbria have to offer (we know because we visited them all!) Our only disappointment - we didn't stay for 2 weeks - we would have enjoyed a few more hours relaxing on the deck.
Thank you for making our first stay in Tuscany so memorable.

Tarnya & Jamie, Victoria, Australia. April 2006

Thank you Sandra, Paul and Vaz for making our first (but definitely not the last) foray into Tuscany be so enjoyable.

Ann & Steve. UK. October 2005

We’ve had a wonderful time and did well with the weather. It’s been sunny every day, enabling us to eat al fresco which we love and to see your beautiful place at its best. We have also been able to have a reasonable stab at maintaining our fitness regimes (!) I think my 50 lengths in the pool every morning surprised even me and we doubt if Tuscany has ever been used as the location for polar training (Jonathan). We loved it all! Thank you.

Clare & Jonathan, Welwyn Garden, UK. September 2005

Thank you so much for a wonderfully relaxing honeymoon week – just what we dreamed of when planning it last winter. The cottage is lovely – charming and comfortable – and you made us feel so welcome. We’re looking forward to cooking our newly learnt Tuscan cuisine for friends back home! The countryside is stunning – whether it was wandering around Cortona or Arezzo or reading by the pool –the backdrop has been superb. Thanks once again for a wonderful week. We shall return to London with many happy memories.

Carl & Elizabeth, London, U.K. August 2005

What a fantastic week – more than we dreamt of. I firmly believe that we leave feeling (and hopefully looking) totally different from our arrival. We felt so at home in such comfortable surroundings but sadly our house has no pool – and certainly not one with such a view. Sandra, Paul and Vas have made our visit so special. Thank you so much for everything – just what we needed.

Anna & Jeremy, Leeds, UK. August 2005

Our second visit here and once again we have enjoyed the special atmosphere at La Torre. Once within the gates we relaxed and enjoyed the warm welcome from Sandra, Paul and, of course, Vas! The pool is, as expected, very well placed, no disturbance to the lovely garden and what a view! Everything we need is at hand and thanks to Sandra, we have even made our own Limoncello.!! La Veduta is, without a doubt, the best equipped house we have rented, we leave for another part of Italy looking back over our shoulders, We will be back!

Wendy & Margaret, Glasgow, Scotland. August 2005

Two whole weeks here – anticipated for ages – an exquisite hideaway to just stop and be. Sandra and Paul have been very sensitive to our needs and when we wanted a chat, they were there - and when we needed quiet we had the run of these wonderful gardens. Lovely walks, concerts, lots of shopping – excess baggage on the way home! The pool was the finishing touch – kept beautifully and a dreamy view. Finally you have the most courteous, friendly dog in Vas – we have really enjoyed his company. We return to England fitter but rested, thanks for sharing the history and love of this place with us. See you soon!

Ann & David, July 2005

Sandra, Paul and Vaz, Thank you for making our ‘middle’ week in Italy so blissful! Okay, we didn’t go out much but why bother when so much of Tuscan history, nature and wildlife are here within your wonderful walls. And it was our honeymoon.... We couldn’t have wished for better hosts for a week that will always have a special place in our memories. Your love of Italy and your home makes it not only a relaxing place but also an inspiring place to stay. Thanks for everything.

Alan & Sally, London, June 2005

We could write so much about our wonderful two weeks in La Veduta, you have been the perfect hosts. After a day spent sightseeing the surrounding towns and cities, we loved the drive back up to ‘our’ mountain retreat. (The best views in Tuscany!) This has been our best holiday ever. We hope to explore the rest of Italy, but I’m sure we will find it impossible to find a place so perfect. We shall be back, thank you....

Karen & David, Sussex. May 2005

We were greeted so warmly on our arrival which was appreciated after being on the road for nearly a week. Sandra and Paul have made it so easy to feel at home as the house is so perfectly equipped, with many thoughtful extras. This part of Tuscany and nearby Umbria is breathtaking but only a week leaves you longing for more and I’m sure we will come back soon. Oh! And the pool – such bliss at anytime of the day with its great views of Arezzo. Thank you (with the help of Vaz) for making our stay really lovely and restful.

Maureen & Stephen, London, May 2005

We have had a marvellous week here at La Torre. Sandra & Paul have been excellent, friendly and considerate hosts and the apartment is beautifully furnished and is excellent in every detail. We also spent many enjoyable hours playing billiards on the wonderful antique table. Tomorrow we start our return drive to the UK but will remember our week here with great affection - our hosts could not have been warmer.

Dot & Rod. U.K. September 2004

When we arrived, the clock in the house said 6.10. When we left it said 6.10. Time stood still; at least we wish it had. A very friendly couple, Sandra and Paul, plus a mad, but friendly Vas were a strong part of our adventure. Peace in a lovely setting with wonderful views. We couldn't have picked a better week, clear blue skies + temperatures in the 90's. The area is lovely, dotted with hill towns, including Poppy, Cortona and especially Anghiari, the last amazingly deserted, for such a sublime spot. We were completely relaxed and the accommodation was great, immaculately furnished. Whatever you do, don't install a TV! Thanks for your help and kindness,

Julie & Peter, England. July 2004

After anticipating a truly memorable holiday in Tuscany for some years, it did not start as we planned! A diverted flight, lost luggage, two attempts at car hire and near loss of handbag, all in a matter of hours! A call to Sandra & Paul and they came to the rescue with hospitality beyond the call of duty and made our arrival and stay the memorable holiday we had always planned. We have been made to feel even more at home by the black waggy body known as Vas as we have a brown one just the same! We could not have imagined Tuscany more truly represented than by La Torre, exquisite taste presented by truly friendly host and hostess. It's so nice to vacation but so much better to visit friends. We trust that you consider us friends as we do you. p.s. You have not seen the last of us!

Brett & Jacqui, Scotland. July 2004

What a lovely place for a relaxing break. The ambiance surrounding the ancient La Torre makes it a wonderful place to return to after a sightseeing tour around the area. Arezzo is a charming city, lovely to stroll in, and of course, shop!! The major accolade, however, goes to Sandra, Paul and Vas for their care and attention to every detail. They are attentive, yet never intrusive. Thanks for everything,

Margaret, Scotland. June 2004

After having travelled the world arriving at your historic, enchanting place was astounding. What a setting! One could not dream of a better spot in the heart of Tuscany. Well, we're no angels but we felt like we were in heaven for a week and have been cared for like family. You have provided an oasis for our bodies and souls to be refreshed and memories that will last a lifetime. We travelled as far as we dared - Siena, Cortona, Grieve in Chianti, Florence - an unforgettable week - winding streets of the many hill towns, picturesque sights, museums filled with art… The cottage and your home is the most and best we could dream of, spectacular views, peaceful surroundings and all under the Tuscan sun! We will certainly stay in touch and look forward to returning.

Paul & Tamara, New York, USA. June 2004

Well, what a great time we had here! What wasn't provided by the wonderful, seductive Tuscan surroundings was provided by La Torre, Paul and Sandra and the always welcoming Vas. In true Roman style, we came, we saw, we cooked & ate, we suffered defeat at the billiard table and we often enjoyed, (possibly too often) the local wines. Most of all we were (more than) comfortable & felt at home. In the absence of music, with seemingly no effort, Santana and Chicago Blues suddenly materialised! So thanks for everything & thanks for being there for us.

Ray & Livia, Switzerland. May 2004
