Where is Arezzo?
Arezzo is in South-East Tuscany and the third point of the Golden triangle of Florence, Siena and Arezzo. It is ideally placed with excellent road and rail links which allow quick and easy journeys to the many wonderful cultural, historic or gastronomic centres in Tuscany, Umbria or beyond.
Which airports are the most convenient for Arezzo?
Florence (Vueling, Alitalia, Flybe, B.A., Air France, Lufthansa) Perugia (Ryanair) Pisa (B.A., Ryanair, Easyjet) Forli (Ryanair) Roma (B.A., Alitalia, Easyjet, Ryanair) Bologna (B.A., Alitalia).
For longhaul flights from the USA, Canada, Australia etc., Rome is the most convenient. This is the airport used by the major world airlines.
How can I find out about Italian trains?
The Italian train service is excellent and very good value: for timetable and fares see Trenitalia.
Will I need a Car?
There is an excellent train/bus service in Arezzo and a very good taxi service based at the station but to get the most out of your stay at La Torre and Tuscany a car is essential. We suggest that you choose a large, well-known, car hire company to ensure you get all the support you need if there are any problems during your holiday. If possible book your car hire via the airline you are travelling with, or with another company before you leave home - this way you will get the best deal. The most convenient car hire company in Arezzo is Avis, the rental office is right across the street from the railway station. Renting a car after arrival is extremely expensive and if it is the busy season there may not be a car for you!
Do I need Insurance?
Yes, travel insurance is highly recommended as with any other holiday, to cover loss of luggage, accident or the unexpected need to cancel at the last minute.
Why rent direct from the owner?
Because if you have any problems or questions, who would know more about the house and the area than the owner.
How many people can each cottage sleep?
The cottages have been designed for couples - 1 double bed in each. Is the House suitable for children or the infirm? Sorry no, La Torre is for adults only and because of the nature of the hillside site it is not suitable for the infirm.
Do I have to book a full week's accommodation?
As with other Tuscan rental properties, La Torre holidays run from Saturday to Saturday. Sometimes, especially in the low season, exceptions are possible, please ask.
What does the rental fee include?
Absolutely everything except central heating in the cooler months and pool towels in the Summer: utilities, bed linen, towels, gas and electricity, after stay cleaning and a welcome pack on arrival.
Can I smoke in the cottage?
Sorry, due to health and safety reasons smoking is not allowed in the cottage, but ashtrays are provided on the terrace.
Why is there the extra cost for central heating?
Resources are scarce in Italy, and the government ensures that gas and electricity prices are very expensive in order to limit consumption. Any cost for central heating will be based on the actual units used x the price we pay per unit.

What if we break anything?
You are responsible for all breakages or damage done during your holiday. Minor breakages (glasses, crockery etc) should be replaced before the end of your holiday. More serious damage rarely happens but MUST be reported to us immediately to enable us to inspect and ascertain responsibility.
How much deposit do I need to pay and when do I pay the balance?
To confirm your reservation we require a deposit. Payment details for the deposits and the balance will be sent to you. Please note: For reservations made less than 30 days before your holiday we require 100% on reservation.
What is the security deposit?
This deposit is returned to you at the end of your stay if there has been no accidental damage, no heating has been used and no extra cleaning was required on your departure because the cottage was not left reasonably clean and tidy, and there have been no unexpected bank or paypal charges.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policy is simple, more than 4 weeks before your holiday we will do all we can to find another renter for your dates and will give you a full refund, less a handling charge and any bank charges. However if this is not possible and your week(s) remain un-let at the full price, we will be unable to give a refund. For cancellations less than 4 weeks before your holiday the full amount is due. For this reason we strongly recommend that you take out holiday cancellation insurance with your normal holiday insurance to cover such items as travel, loss, accident, injury and medical expenses as the use of the property is entirely at the renters' risk.
Can I use my mobile phone at La Torre?
Yes, all GSM phones will work here, however please make sure that you have your phone set for European roaming before you leave home. In an emergency you can use the main house phone and internet access is also available.
Are there internet facilities?
If you have to keep in touch with the 'outside' world La Torre has wireless broadband.

Where are the closest shops?
The closest, very well-stocked shop is in the village of Bagnoro, less than five minutes away and there is an enormous high quality supermarket less than 10 minutes from La Torre. You will also have the opportunity to visit the wonderful open-markets held daily throughout the area and the many specialist shops in and around Arezzo. Arezzo is also the main shopping town for this part of Tuscany and has everything from antiques to clothes to jewellery and shoes. There are also many designer outlet stores within an hour of La Torre: Prada, Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana etc.
What time can I arrive and when do I have to leave?
Saturday between 5pm and 9pm is the normal arrival time and check out is by 10am, a week or so later.The gap between departure and arrival is to give us enough time to prepare your cottage properly. Exceptionally, early arrivals are possible but only if we know well in advance.
What if I know I am going to be much later than 9pm?
It is essential that you let us know as soon as possible so that we can discuss if this is an option for you.
