il Bacio, (pronounced batch-oh means 'the kiss' in Italian) is the cutest cottage ever ~ it just oozes charm and romance. It's wonderful for that special holiday for two ~ cosy yet perfect in every detail. It is surrounded by planters which flower throughout the season and the garden has panoramic views for miles over to the mountains in Umbria. The sheltered patio even has the original wood burning 'forno' or pizza oven in situ. Here the Signore for centuries would have prepared bread and meals for the many contaldini (tenant farmers) who would have lived here. But now it's the most intimate terrace for candle-lit suppers for two.

Il Bacio, which dates back many hundreds of years, was originally the chestnut drying house, (This farm historically specialised in chestnuts which grow freely in the woods around. They were an important food item because most contaldini were too poor to buy wheat flour so used chestnut flour instead!). It has been sympathetically converted into a two level cottage with chestnut beams, terracotta floors, an open fire place and central heating!

Just a couple of steps takes you down to the cosy sitting/dining room -with a couple of armchairs, an antique chest, an oak dining table just for two and a large oak dresser tucked under the stairs. When opened this dresser reveals a compact kitchen with fast 2 burner hob, toaster, sink, shelves, drawers, fan, worktop and a fridge - everything you need to prepare your own Italian Feast, (We can direct you to the very best sources for fresh pasta, porcini, truffles, cheeses, fruits, wines and bread, etc.) . All the necessary cooking and dining equipment are also provided.

A mini library with the latest reading, CD player and cool bag are also here. The shower room, also on the lower level, boasts a large douche head shower along with the latest in Italian bathroom fittings!

A rustic oak staircase leads up to the romantic gallery bedroom which is furnished with locally sourced furniture including antiques; A superbly comfortable, hand crafted wicker bed and other typical Tuscan furniture.

A complimentary welcome pack will ease you into a stress-free start to your holiday and many little extras ~ a hair dryer, sewing kit, CD's, library, games box, maps, guidebooks and local walking maps are provided to ensure it continues. There is also a comprehensive House Book, packed with information on all that this part of Tuscany has to offer you.

The two acre mature garden with ancient olives, fruit trees, oaks and conifers is completely at your disposal, wander around and you will find your 'special' view. Numerous benches and loungers are dotted around the grounds - nowhere is ' out of bounds'.

The pool, shared only with La Torre's other guests, nestles in the olive grove at the lower end of the garden. It has the most fabulous, panoramic views to Arezzo and the Pratomagno mountains beyond. It has been sympathetically constructed with a natural Sienese stone surround and the walls were made using stone excavated from the garden. There are sunbathing areas at each end of the pool ~ so you will never feel crowded.

Truffle Hunting Trips and Wine Tours around our local vineyard can be arranged. La Torre Extra Virgin Olive Oil is also available for sale.

Arezzo with its countless shops, restaurants, banks etc. is only 10 mins away but even nearer is Bagnoro, where you will find a fantastically well-stocked village shop/bar that is open every day ~ even Sunday!

Vaz (Vasco da Gama to give him his full name) will probably come to il Bacio, to check you are OK but we're only around if you need us.
